Injured and is on last year of contract. They needed backup C/PF for the playoffs.

are players eligible for the playoffs if they're signed this late?
Knicks should sign someone now with that non guaranteed deal for next year. It would give Phil another piece to move if he wants to make a trade.

Pittman is eligible because I don't believe he has played a game in the nba this year. Pittman would have been a nice pick up also
I know hes hurt but this is a good move to pick him up. We can let the 3rd PG go.

As long they haven't been on another team's roster they're ok.

Knicks have an open slot. With the ability to sign a guy and have a team option for next year that you could use in a trade it seems stupid not to fill the spot. Also, I have no qualms with moving on from Murry. I don't think he is going to make it in the nba.

I'm not sure about giving up on Murray yet- might do better in the triangle offense
isn't this the greg smith who was supposed to have great rebounding skills because of large hands and could develop into like a ben wallace player? i think we should sign him.

He is that guy. I couldn't remember if you were right about his hands so I checked his draftnet profile. He also has a 7'3" wingspan and was described as coachable and personable. On a negative note they said he. "Looks like Tarzan but plays like Jane."
