Knicks · Official 2013/14 Playoff Thread (page 41)
Nalod@ 5/4/2014 6:02 PM
The knicks are not playing and thats why we are rooting for another.
Wouldn't say rooting, but have "following interest"!
Im more neutral on Nets that I thought. Have to say Garnett presence and leaderhship is impressive, and I thought Pierce was classy giving props to the Raptors at the end of the game. Raptors played good defense and Nyets could not buy a bucket at the end.
I like good theatre and enjoying the playoffs. I think the refs did a good job on both ends. Im sure the fans didn't!
I wish this was the Knicks-Nyets in this series!!! It would have been fun!
Nyets gonna be tired but they are deep. They are built to play up with Miami. Deron needs to play better!
Welcome to the new CBA guys lots of drama with Parity.

it's great to have a new york team going to the second round. all new yorkers should be able to root for the nets against miami. non-new yorkers? maybe not
brooklyn represent!
Naw, I'd rather root for Miami. The only thing worse that the Heat is a Nets team stocked with old Celtic players.
Agree. Two of the guys I hate the most all time on one team and I used to like the Nets.
since you don't live in the five boroughs i can understand your lack of allegiance to a new york city team. there's a chance that the other poster is also living outside the five boroughs.
no big deal as it's no crime to be a knick fan not actually living in new york city but it's an interesting phenomenon all the same.
btw the five boroughs include manhattan, brooklyn, queens, the bronx, and, oddly, staten island.
Listening to Knick fans bandwagoning the Nets try to justify it to themelves amuses me! And they seem to want to discreetly convince other Knick fans to join them. Enjoy rooting for Paul Pierce and Deron Williams!
in reality it isn't bandwagoning since the knicks epically failed this season and managed to alienate many knick fans in the process because of their incompetence and circus-like atmosphere. moreover there is no actual rivalry between the two franchises since they have virtually novplayoff history against one another.
if brooklyn were not in it many knick fans would find some other team to root for. but here they are, so there you go.
I seem to remember getting all worked up about this with Nalod back when the nets first moved to Brooklyn, and I think I over reacted- it's up to people to decide their own nba moral code and what team to root for- I do like to taunt you a bit about it, but I don't mean anything mean spirited!
But I will say I think I hate Paul Pierce more than any other nba player- aargh!

I hate the Heat more than I hate Pierce...Heat hatred is much more deeply rooted than Pierce and Garnett..Can't say I'll get the pompoms out for Brooklyn, but down with the Heat everyday, all day...Maybe I'm not as mad with Brooklyn because the Celtics have 3 of their first round picks and a couple of second rounders the next few years, they are of no threat...

The dude has personally said himself that he hates the Knicks. How can any Knick fan like that/him?

Maybe it a function of age and knicks not playing for anything important that my hate has dissipated!
I hate the celtics and with those two gone I thought I'd really not like them on the nyets but for some reason they don't bother me. Pierce seems tamer and KG seems like Rasheed. I could not stand Rasheed but he becomes a knick and its all good right? If KG was a knick we'd be gushing about his intensity and coach like effect with the yoot.
Many of you hated Kidd but he won you over.
To each his own and we are all bound by the preference that knicks play for something important. TO me the knicks have no rivals because its been so long. Heat of today are not the Mourning/Hardaway heat. We even get TImmy JR and root for him. Real hatred would be to hate the offspring as well!!! Even the Pierce/KG celts had no natural rivalry with us. They won, we sucked.
ToddTT@ 5/4/2014 10:09 PM
I'll be rooting for the Nets to lose, and the Heat to lose to the Wizards.
But mostly I'll be rooting for Phil Jackson.

How many times did Lowry get fouled on that last play?!

It's amazing how KG becomes immune to fouls on last plays (as well as elbows all through the game)- still haven't forgotten how he flattened Shump to free up a shooter to win the game in that playoff series against them (the one we lost)

Nothing better then seeing that plastic franchise in Brooklyn get swept.

Ugh. I remember him tripping up Toney Douglas to close out game 1. Then we follow up with an incredible game 2 by Melo, only for Jeffries to blow the game winning layup. Still bitter about that series, felt we should have taken both games in Boston.
Fawk KG. Fawk Pierce. I won't cheer for Bron and Wade, but I am actively rooting against the Nets.

Not seeing a foul worthy.....He split the defense clean (might have cleared his way also) and Pierce was straight up.

at 4 seconds in he seems to carry or palm the ball from right to left to get by williams and is kind of out of control. the refs let that one go.
at 6 seconds he pushes off to get by garnett whose hands are straight up. still looks out of control.
immediately after that he loses the ball in an attempt to split the defenders whose hands are straight up. again out of control. and then he runs into his own man patterson on his release hand.
lastly it's a tear drop release so the ball has left his hand like a shotput.
he was fouled exactly zero times.

You can call a carry on every single play in the NBA today.
