Knicks · Possible Melo blockbuster deals....Which one do you want? (page 2)

Edit: Thought it over and one first rounder would be fair.

You need to add Lin's contract to make that work.

Melo, MDA, Kobe, No big man? Im not feeling thats a direction they go in.

PHX? CLT? Doubtful.

Market might not be that great for him.

I don't think melo reunites with Dantoni. Curious that they empty the bank for Kobe but then keep Dantoni despite Kobe saying he wants him gone.

MDA knows if they not extending him he is done. He also can see the team will suck next year.

He came aboard to coach healthy Kobe, Dwight, Pau and Nash. Shyt happens. Dude is wise to move on.

Had some issues with Pau and Dwight. Maybe Pau goes back to the lakers now.

Dwight had issues with Dwight. Pau had issues because Pau don't move like he used to. If you have a system you play who can do the job.

Do they really think they can win with Kobe and Pau? Pau keeps breaking as well. Dwight had a bad back. MDA was foolish to take the gig to begin with but who can blame him at the time he had a rehabbing Dwight, but healthy Pau, Nash and Kobe! Thats pretty tempting.

Whose to blame?

Father time.

Asik does not appear to have the skills and as much as I like Lin, I like him as a second unit player. I prefer Felton in the role actually.
Both of them have ending contracts so Im not sure I want either.

not sure where all of this talk is coming from. This is just not how morey has done business and carmelo surely doesn't seem like a morey type player.. I look at how a GM does business in the past and this just does not seem like a morey move.. I just think that if he puts out a package of picks, asik, lin and parsons he can get a package of players that would fit his team, certainly players that are more versatile and complete than carmelo.. again, scoring is not the rockets problem.. not sure why people keep trying to dump carmelo on them...

LivingLegend @ 5/1/2014 11:40 PM
Why would anyone take the Chicago deal over the Houston deal?

I notice this post did not get the Nalodian easy reading double spacing.

Parsons would be the key to this trade. Asik is maybe just someone who could stay on the court longer than FluPersonalBrokenTyson and may push our boy Cole in practice.
Felton over Lin? Are you taking post-coaching from IWG on how to get a reaction?
Or were you making a pun on "role" and "roll"?

babyKnicks @ 5/3/2014 10:53 AM
Houston better deal...with them getting ousted in the first round means desperate times call for desperate measures.

If we take on asik and Lin, we would get $30 mill cap relief on top of chandler, amare and bargs coming off the cap...we would have a deep team that could compete and buys in.

I love melo...I do, but if he opts out, we should capitalize and take back talent that buys in and have 2015 flexibility.

Win win.

I am a huge parsons fan, I miss Lin and feel asik would be great next to chandler.

Especially if we have a system. We would still have jr smith, amare, hardaway jr and parsons on the bench. Starting chandler, asik, bargs, Lin, shump...

It's a competitive team next year.

For the money, I prefer Felton off the bench. That was my take. Lins contract would cost to much in a back up role. Don't know if Shedding Felton costs us as well.

Get it.

So the worst PG in the league is preferred off the bench for the money, seeing how money is always a big deal here in Knick land. And this is coming from an obvious non-Linlover (me).

Got it.

Do the math. Lin would be a 15mm cap hit for us I believe. Felton makes about 4mm?

I like Lin, but like him off the bench as well. So if I pretend to be GM for a moment where money matters and look at my non championship type team and think which is better for the moment? Its a Cap thing, not that Im worried about Dolans money.

Lin and asik have zero effect on our cap. We are over until Amare Tyson Bargnani and Melo expire. Which also coincides with Lin and Asik's contracts expiring. 2015 still intact. You signing Parsons for the $10-15m he deserves and you resign Lin and asik for what Phil believes they are worth or you trade em

Nalod @ 5/5/2014 11:06 AM
Nalod loved linsanity, but in the end he's a good player, but not a special player. He rose from obscurity to be an NBA player. IT was fun.

My preference is to resign Melo for what ever makes sense to build a contender. If Phil wants him, thats enough for me.

So Chandler Parsons is worth the exact same money as Carmelo Anthony is today? Apologies in advance if you're not part of the "$13MM or get lost Melo" crowd.
Just asking. I've seen a bit of Parsons and like what I see, but is he worth Melo money? Yoot is yoot, I guess.

+1
Level headed and balanced. Nalod, the New Fox News of UK. Good player still beats Felton everyday and four times on Sunday. On so many levels.

I spent part of the weekend re-reading stuff about Zen Buddhism. It's not very encouraging, when it comes to being a system about gauging the worth of things. All is one and one is all.

We need some input from BDiddy, our last great savior! He could consult our new GM Saviour!

I never said Carmelo is worth $13m. I said $17-23m for the 5yr duration of his extension. If Phil pays him that I wi trust his judgement but gun to my head I rather trade him than get looked in to another albatross of a contract. Again Melo has logged a ton of minutes for 11yrs and has shoulder issues

Wow, I would never have thought you were that far away from the Melohate crowd. Like I said, apologies. But that 17-23m is per year, right?

Agreed on the minutes and the shoulder issues.

Dealing Melo away should only be if he wants out. We can't be left holding our dicks with nothing to show if he goes. And if he goes, I want to deal with Houston. It's a win win. The contracts we would get back is in the right timeline for 2015. We get a valuable player in Parsons and if we get multiple picks, it would be awesome.
gunsnewing @ 5/5/2014 12:26 PM
If Melo signs for less I would prefer that he takes less the first 2-3yrs of his deal allowing us to field a good team around him around in 2015/16. Then cross my fingers he doesn't go the H20 route because over usage

At least deals max out at 5 years. So, even if we get 3.5 good years that is not terrible.

With contracts like Houston, we were phucked for years.

Even with Amare. It was a terrible move but it would have been 8 years if we were allowed. How bad would that have been?
