That should be the plan for 2015. If Phil can convince Paul to come here for the full mid level. He can then recruit his brother in 2015. They are both perfect for the Triangle and its a realistic scenario. Melo-Paul,-Marc front court. And there should still be money left over to go after a PG.
Trade Tyson for a PG as well. Either do the OKC trade that we talk about for one of there picks or Reggie Jackson. Draft the best PG available with the pick.
PG play has been a huge factor in these playoffs. Its clear the teams with high quality guard play are either winning or pushing more talented teams to the limit.
The worst....defensive...frontcourt...Ever! I'd love those guys on offense though.

Ha! Is it even possible for our frontcourt's defense to sink lower?

He's talented.... but a miracle worker he is not. Can't imagine what he'd do with all 3 having lost a step.
Can't build a team for the future with players who have peaked or pass their peak...
Gasol at the mid level is a good signing if you can get him at that price. There have been plenty of veteran teams of players past peak that have won championships.
The key is that they will be taking less money so you can build a deeper team. If Melo takes a pay cut and is making around 17-18mil, Paul is making 6mil, Marc is making 12mil. That's only 36mil, we can target Dragic at 8mil. Use our 2015 pick to add youth and depth to the front court or another PG.

Phil is 70, his team will compete next year and contend thereafter.

I agree, the thread started out about piecing together a team for 2015..Pau doesn't fit that bill..He was old and injured the last two years, we can't plan with him in mind for 2015/16 to team with his brother ..Hope Pau isn't in Phil's plans..

Gasol could stay with the Lakers, get a better salary and still be in a better position the Knicks IMO. I think we need to come better than 3yr/$9 million to get him this offseason. I'd love to get him though.
