I think people also assume that just because someone's given tens of millions of dollars, it wipes away all of their lifelong issues or problems. In fact it can actually be worse for them because they have a lot more money and temptations to harm themselves with, plus it can cut them off from their old support systems (family, friends, old work collegues/teammates, routines, etc).
I know everyone always points to the money they made, but I think it must be hard going from getting praise and adulation from thousands of people, to suddenly being irrelevant and unable to do what you had dedicated your life to. Must feel like a huge void at the age of 34-36.
