Knicks · Kerr would have to be a puppet... (page 1)

He's got no coaching experience, was far from an elite player (not that that is required or even helpful in a coach, but I'm just saying), and no other coaches are really being considered from everything that's been reported.
So why would Phil pass up the vetting and pursuit of Marc Jackson, the Van Gundy brothers, and any other proven/successful options. Clearly Stan wanted the Riley package and good for him for getting it with the Pistons. But Kerr wants nearly the same type of money for doing half of Stan's job and without an impressive coaching resume to back it up. Which further fuels the idea that if I'm going to be told how to do my job, then at least pay me way too much. There's an audacity to that in that what it really should be looked at is a mentorship from the winning coach in NBA history. I'd do that job for a mere $500K...hell, even $250K per (not that my wife would have any of it).
Kerr's being given a HUGE and golden opportunity. I know it's his right to get the best deal he can (and that said deal doesn't count against the cap AND that's it's stupid Jimmy D's money), but hardlining anything when you've got no amatuer or professional coaching experience is ridiculous.
I have nothing against the man, but unless Phil's looking at a total gutting and rebuild I would try to get an experienced coach...preferably a proven winner.

Get to use the same paste twice! Grillco, have you seen the other Kerr threads?

Phil has been cashing an NBA paycheck since I was 1 year old. While I like to voice my amatuer opinions on the forum, I don't pretend to know more. There is a reason he is still getting paid to make BIG decisions and I am sitting at my desk typing on a keyboard.....maybe after almost 50 years he knows who he wants and is being patient about it. Look how the GSW screwed up by hedging their bets. I like that Phil picked his man and didn't chase all the other pretty skirts around the dance floor. Finally, a mateur adult at the helm. In Phil I trust.

Yeah, hallelujuah, without his starting center. His best backcourt was getting alot of stops, were they?
Will be very interesting to see if the neophyte Talking Triangle does any better.

My guess is west attends practices and hs suggestions are heard. No friction if Lacob suggests Kerr live in the bay area during the season.
