are you kidding? The media attention the knicks got thru this was worth a fortune!
stole some thunder from Nyets.
The Game is not always played on the court!!!
Imagine the media attention if they hire a homophobe as coach! Nobody will be watching the playoffs or the Finals!
1) Phil will announce everything. I thought that was one of the nice changes that occurred. We weren't left waiting for Grunny to make his semi-annual press conference.
2) What's the latest situational on the Herb Williams conspiracy?
3) When was Dolan's meddling not made public before? The Melo trade? IT as the new secret assistant to draft/marketing relations? Our troll owner is going to eff up his new Prez's latest big deal and not leak a single, smug word? I doubt it. Jimmie doesn't care if he looks like an idiot going back on his word. That much has been documented.

From a strategic point of view, if we take off our orange and blue shades for a moment here is another angle. If a coach (or General Manager) is forever wed to a system, how does that system take precedence over the acquisition of coaches or players?
Are the best coaches the ones who can adapt their coaching philosophies to their roster, or do they simply impose their system on the roster, no matter who wears the uni?
Could Michael Jordan, or Kobe, have been all-world in any system?
If you insert another all star with Carmelo, which one plays defense?
We only know that neither was all world before, or after Phil.
Mike had a few seasons before Phil at was 27 when he won his first ring. Six year in the NBA pre-Phil Jax. Both with Phil in their primes. WE'll never know otherwise.
I say the best coach's impose their system on the players and mold rosters to fit it. MDA when Kerr came in was not in synch with what Colangelo (jr) had build with MDA. Krause got the man he though was right for the team.
Riles, Pop and Auerbach had control and built it to their specs, and when they needed to made adjustments but within the context of the system. Example is Pop gone more uptempo, but still uses his propritary system.
Nalod - let's presume that Melo walks and the Knicks purge the roster by 2015. Does the commitment to the triangle limit the field of players to be considered by the Knicks in free agency or via the draft?
Red Auerbach did not have any assistant coaches. He also had a tasty group hall of fame players
Pat Riley had talent from 1-6 that was off the charts.
We have a long journey ahead.

I'm still annoyed that no one wanted Kerr until the Knicks did

You can bet on that! We are still being used. Thats why you can't beleive it when a star player is talking to New York. He is just using us to get a message to the other teams.
