exactly-- walt frazier is my favorite point guard all time but his assists were never that high because he played on teams back in that era that prized teamwork predicated on passing and cutting. clearly the precursor to the spurs we see today.

tony parker's ballhandling is without equal today and that includes nash and chris paul. what is missed about parker is that in spite of relatively low assist numbers he is still a sublime orchestrator if for no other reason he is able to maintain his dribble like nash used to do.

Kyrie Irving is tops...

tony parker doesn't waste moves or hold the ball....that's the difference in winning and losing at the pg spot

That's not true there are times get frustrated with his dribble dribble dribble routine and either takes him out or brings someone(manu)in to orchestrate.

I think OKC almost had the spurs model roster wise but they chose not to pay luxury taxes. I think they need better coaching too and put in a system to help Westbrook and Durant.

Westbrook screaming at Durant yesterday. Things are going to get ugly. Guy is 7-24 and he is yelling at Durant.

Westbrook has a school yard game....same with Durrant and reggie jackson. They need a structured system to elevate their game.

I would agree. Westbrook is a talented yet scattered player that plays with too much emotion and Durant really needs a post game so that he can get doubled more and get his teammates more open looks.

Are you saying that they need a real coach? Scottie Brooks coaching style is a work in progress. The team also had some bad luck this year with the Ibaka injury. What happened to Perry Jones's development. Adams is year or two away from being dependable and Jeremy Lamb has disappeared. Someone has to shoot on that team!

I don't know if its the coaches fault but why does Durant not post up Tony Allen who he has 6-8 inches on? And someone has to slow Westbrook down when he is not shooting well.

Bad luck with Ibaka but the coach needs some blame too. Not sure how much he actually deserves.

A lot of coaches have to keep their star players happy (their jobs depend on it) so they allow them to play their game to their strengths.

Pop, Riley and Phil, have won multiple rings with ball dominating super star players. But there philosophy is, my super stars will take the shot, but im going to run plays where all his teammates are involve and depending on the defense.

My point guard no matter how good he is, will be 3rd option at best unless he's scorching hot.

And knick fans think his crying means he's a lock to stay in okc.....lmao. I play with Westbrook type guards all the time. They don't change until they get injured. Come on home KD...to a real system and a market that will elevate his status even more. When bron is old and slow....KD will be king of NY.

You know what? Maybe Fisher would be a big draw for him. I don't care that much for Fisher and don't think KD will leave OKC but maybe we would then have a small shot.

I believe it was said he was getting on Durant about his defensive rotations. Also, watching the game it didn't look like much but maybe it got more heated on the sideline. Either way they both were shooting horribly but at least one was trying on D.

You are kidding me right?
MVP of the season, multiple scoring titles, insane range/length/handle, and still YOUNG and not reached his prime while Melo is likely going down from here

LBJ and Durant are both on their own Islands and are legit SF/PF's with G abilities
While CA is best played at PF but is unable to even defend SF's effectively because of his lack of speed/quickness
IF anything CA is a tweener that is best played at PF at his age and Durant is basically a 7 footer with the with length/athleticism that is a nightmare to defend with 1 player that is a SF that can play much more positions

Not a knock at CA by any means but comparing KD to Carmelo at their point of careers, age, physical abilities, and accomplishments is NOT even comparable
CA is a high volume scorer, not an ELITE player that you can build around your franchise as the centered piece

That comment is basically saying Kmart and Carmelo are basically the same players

or

Jared Jeffries is basically STAT

One carried his team, even without Westbrook as a TOP TEAM in the Western Conference while CA carried us to the lottery, put CA with the injuries Durant had on that team and you would get much different results

If anything Scott Brooks is more comparable to Woodson in adjustments/lack of play calling with less favoritism of players and willing to let the younger talents develop

these dudes were 1 and 2 top scorers in the league 2 yrs running, their both Iso players, west brook got hurt in the playoffs, and okc was toast litle after..google any top player in the league on guarding melo or durant, all of whom said melo is a nightmare..be serious..besides i didn't say they were exactly alike.

If Thibs or Jackson were coaching, yes. They have the gravitas, for lack of a better word to get Westbrook to do things things their way, at least a better chance than any of the other names that have been floated. I get the feeling that D. Rose would be compared to Westbrook more often if he had played for a small market team, and a different coach.
Gsus @ 5/23/2014 7:36 PM
HELL FREAKING NO. He takes worse shots than Melo and Kobe, from the point guard position...gtfooh.

Not saying much. With the exception of Kendrick Perkins, all of the starters on OKC would've have started on the Knicks.

I doubt that, when JR (he's not a pg so i wouldn't expect him to facilitate) is playing at a high level he's just as good as westbrook, and melo can score with anybody on the planet, and i'll take tyson over perkins and adams any day of the wk.

The difference is ibaka, make no mistake about, on both ends
