There is a Ranger thread in the OT but for those non hockey fans I urge you to read up and maybe catch some of these games.
Up 3-1 in Hockey 7 game series is never a done deal as teams move on momentum. Rangers up after back to back OT games!!!!
These guys play hurt. After a few games they start to despise each other and its flat out nasty on the ice.
Canadians P.K. Subban plays an insane amount of time and is a beast on the ice!

This is the dude that caught the ire of Bruins fans and inspired the cowardly few to write some ignorant posts. As irony would have it, his younger brother plays on the Bruin minor league team!
The Rangers are lead by Newcomer Martin St. Louis who after being dissed by his GM not picked to be on the Canadian Olympic team wanted to be traded as he could not even look at the guy afterwards! He only wanted to be traded to the Rangers!!! The Tampa GM, the Great former player Steve Yzerman got put in a bad situation and the rangers Traded Ryan Calahan who was to be a free agent and wanted more money than reasonable for his declining talent and a 2015 no. 1 pick. Might be a bit much for a 37 year old player but St. Louis is just one year from being the leagues top scorers and might be one of those freaky guys who plays into his 40's. In any event here they are just one game from the Stanley Cup round! His mother died just days before Mothers day when the Rangers had to play on that Sunday! Rangers turned around after being down 3-1 to the Penquins to win the series in 7!
Similarly NBA and NHL playoff games take on a new level of intensity the further the post season extends. Hockey being a more physical game takes on a whole new level of play. Brutality is kept in check because the penalty for deliberate action is not tolerated but as fatigue sets in and the intensity rises with whats at stake its a thin line and very exciting. These guys are at war!
For those not into the sport your NY team is one game away from the Stanley Cup finals and the Canadians will do everything they can to move the momentum into their favor! A good time to check this sport out! This is one of the great runs for any NY team!
I'm not a Hockey fan but got my first taste of if back in '94 when the Rangers made it to the Finals..I got tickets to both Rangers and Knicks finals back then and it was a special time in the City...I still have my Rangers '94 Stanley Cup T-Shirt and still wear it!!!..Good story..Go Rangers!!
I'm loving it too. I been trying to catch games when I can but I been following. sIt's very exciting. I never played nor will I claim to be a diehard Ranger fan....but I'm a fan none the less. Nhl playoffs are alot of fun. This year is definitely epic!
Yep this is an amazing run I also became a fan in 94. Never missed a ranger or knick game especially in 96-97 when both teams made runs and loved watching Gretzky as a Ranger. Still an incredible play maker at his old age. Then Dolan took over and STARPHUCHED the hell out of the team. Mega big money busts like Nedved, Lindros, Bure & Fleury for picks. No winning culture, foundation or identity. My interest waned.
Then Sather was forced to operate on a lower budget as the cap shrunk. Develop talent from within. Just as he did during his Edmonton dynasty.
Tortorella had his issues but he laid down the ground work for what we see today. AV has put it all together now. They still play great defense but they are allowed to just play and take chances offensively. So much speed and fire power on this team. Whereas in the past Henrik had to stand on his head as the Rangers just could not score in the playoffs.
Now we see why MSL was brought here. This is special. Might actually see some real confetti at the Garden again!! Dolan > Prokorov. Whether you are a hockey fan or not you gotta appreciate what the Rangers are doing now.
I always gravitate towards home grown players. Chris Krieder has been my guy. His size and speed makes him special and can be a top player in the league for years to come
I wonder if Prokhorove will buy the Isles? Russians love the hockey!!
When the Nassau Coliseaum was built and the Isles built their Dynasty from the draft it was a special team with many players staying their whole careers, or most of it with the team. They 4 straight cups in 5 trips to the finals was amazing. You had the Canadians, then Isle, then Oilers and that was about a 15 year run with those three! Amazing how bad and for how long the Isles have been!
It makes all the sense in he world with them moving to Brooklyn
btw did anyone catch the real madrid atletico champions league game?
most intense game of soccer in recent memory

Not really into hockey, but I always root for the Rangers to do well. Would Prokhorov be interested in buying an American team? I thought Putin was aggressively trying to develop a pro-Russian league that could rival the NHL. Would Prokhorov be pressured into supporting the Russian league, if he hasn't already?
Great news. I'm glad someone is making good use of the garden in June
Kudo's to NYR goalie Hank,
1 goal save, is star of the game..
At least the Good MSG Tenant (not knicks) has prevailed.
Great for NY city
Was a die hard Rangers fan when I lived in NYC, but after the Rangers won and Keenan left my interest gradually started to wane. I believe living in a warm climate had something to do with it as well.
Its funny, I left NYC for Fla the last time the Rangers made it to the finals in 94'. Twenty years later I'm moving to the west coast this summer, and the Rangers are in the finals again. Talk about synchronicity, no not The Police's last studio album
Go Rangers!
I wrote a post a few months back when Lundquist signed his 35mm--boy that mightve been the stupidest post of all time. This Ranger team is just ok theyre gritty and have some diversity of speed skill and size. But this is a team based on it's goaltender's ability to shut down teams. The Rangers are good enough to score 2-3 pts a night and Henry usually only gives up 1-2. The final round you are looking at more explosive offensive clubs--I hope its not a Denver Seattle match up. I always want to get game 1--that is key but in hockey you never know. I think the Rnagers team 2 years ago was better than this one but the bottom line--just like the NCAA's survive advance win.
Back in the Stanley cup... GOOD going boys in blue!!

Yup and I responded with although Cam Talbot was playing well at the time he is still young and you don't know how he would handle the pressure in the playoffs. Henrik has been sensational. This is a special run
The 3rd period of Hubs elimination game yesterday was special!!!
Total dominance of a team leading in 1-0 game and pushing for second without looking back...
The Garden was so loud at you cannot hear yourself... WOW...
WE WANT THE CUP!!!
The we want the cup chant as the fans walk out of the garden is awesome. As is the Rangers goal song!
I know little to nothing about Hockey, last time i watch a full game was in 1994 when both knicks and rangers made it to the finals.
The question I have is, where the Rangers consider a championship team from the jump, or at best, a playoff contender base on their roster?
