No one has mentioned it, but after Lebron, Wade and Bosh opt out the only real cap hold they have is Hasslem. Assuming a 64M cap, the three amigos can restructure their deals to add a 4th amigo.....Melo. All could have back loaded deals starting at approx 15M. Laugh, mock me but it could happen. Realistically, all 4 could take 12M and turn that franchise into a dynasty. If building a legacy is their primary motivation, this could get done.
I've been fearing this for a while. I will puke if this goes down.
Melo to Miami has been discussed before and is a real possibility.
Nalod thinks Bosh wants to be paid and will leave but Wade-Melo-Lebron trio is very doable.
Please Stop! Wade wants to get paid this time around and Melo has always been about his bread, so this is a pipe dream!
It would be the worst case scenario for us because we would get nothing in return. We can only hope all three opt in.
Miami, feel the love . . . Anthony, Wade, Love, LeBron, Bosh (Bogut, Paul, Shump, someone who can play defense). Not exactly a dynasty but bring it on.
Miami payroll: http://hoopshype.com/salaries/miami.htm.
Wish we could steal Norris Cole from them, seems like a player who could do a good job running the triangle. Also a good defender and I cant remember the last time he missed a game. Cole's rookie contract is almost up, hope Phil tries to pry him away from the Heat, wont be easy though.
I think if Melo was looking at his retirement years, then he will join a ready made championship team. Right now, he has too much pride to join Miami (in his prime). They already won 2 rings...going for a 3rd. Melo doesn't gain anything going there right now. If Melo goes to Miami, and they lose, that would be the worse thing that could happen to Melo. If he goes to Miami and win, everybody will say they would've won with or without him. But at the end of his next contract, I can see him going to Miami, Spurs or any ready made championship team. Assuming he doesn't win in NY, which I think he can under Phil Jackson.
I think him and Phil will use Miami as a blue print and try to do the same thing they did, using Melo like Pat did with Wade to help orchestrate the next championship roster (built around Melo), but do it in NY. Maybe steal Bosh and add Love. I don't know, just throwing out names. Fisher as the coach with his Durrant connection? Phil by himself will draw players as well, like Kobe?
At this point in Phils career, you have to trust that he can build a championship team in 2015, since he will have a clean slate with cap room and total control. You see what Phil can do when he has star players on his team....Bull, Lakers.....next up.....NY. For most coaches, a star studded team would be easy to win a championship. But for Phil, it's almost a guaranteed win. I give him at least 1 championship during the Phil Jackson era. Theres always vets hanging around hungry for a chip, that would love to play in NY, for a ready made championship run, which is what we will be during and after 2015. I don't see how KD could turn down the chance to play near his home, for a coach like Fisher, with other stars seeking a championship, in a market that turns stars into superstars, and a GM with more rings than fingers. But thats just me!

No way he goes to miami for a lose vs lose proposition. Probably no chance he stays here either.
antiny is in a tough bind no matter what is decided.

why? There would have to be an under the radar team willing to pay him with with a supporting cast too tempting to not join. The Bulls/Rockets keep being mentioned and considering their challenges I just dont see it, the scenarios are far fetched to say the least. Meanwhile you do have Phil here. For Melo to leave it has to be an almost too good to be true situation.

Maybe you're right its just my gut feeling. I don't think that he (or CAA) want to go through a rebuilding process at this point in his career.
And, if he stays here, I don't see him giving a discount without 1 or 2 other stars in the mix out of the gate.
He fits into the Houston scheme like a glove.

Papabear Says
The league will stop that deal just like they stopped Chriss Paul going to the lakers.
