What a great great effort but my god, play some prevent defense with < 1 min to go. Just clear the ball in the air and leave men back....should've never happened. Unbelievable finish.

Still its a good result for the US. They are obviously in with a win or draw. Portugal's goal deficit is huge...so even if Portugal win we'd likely have the tiebreaker. Ghana has a -1 on the US so if they won by a goal and the US lost by a goal the USA would still be in.

Jermaine Jones has been brilliant. People have been iffy about him because they believe he is undisciplined, but in these two games he has been the most active player on the field for the US, intercepting a ton of balls and moving the ball forward. And then today the great thunder strike.

Germany plays a total team game has all kinds of options AND Klose.

Forget how the equalizer happened; this is a good result. US can still advance even with a loss against Germany, depending on the combination of scorelines in the final group games.

Normally we would be happy with draw against Portugal but this did not feel so good!

From today's NYT:

Ronaldo is so agile and elusive that he is the only man known to have dated Kim Kardashian without marrying her for a reality show.

Neymar is the real deal

Bradley lost possession and the defense was napping. All said and done, US outplayed Portugal. They scored two goals on mistakes by US defenders.

I am very disappointed in Bradley's play thus far. He looks overwhelmed, slow and weak.

US still has a good chance to move on. They are set up to play Belgium if take the 2nd seed. Belgium is talented but has not clicked yet this tournament, so they would have a chance.

Against Germany, they must keep it close. Park the bus. Fill the Gaps and stop the German counters....that's all.

wow, suarez the biting racist strikes again!

amazing

gunsnewing @ 6/24/2014 2:29 PM
Sucks can't believe Italy is ousted. Kudos to Costa Rica. Definitely the cinderellas of the Cup
markvmc @ 6/24/2014 2:37 PM
The last we'll be seeing of Suarez in this tournament.

and way beyond that.

I love Suarez more with each crunchy morsel

Guy is my hero

PresIke @ 6/24/2014 6:04 PM
ivory choke!!

sorry i was a supporter but as a city fan i'm a bit confused and angry at yaya right now.

horrible what happened to his brother, and maybe i'm wrong, but saying city didn't let him go to see his ailing brother strikes me as myth given his previous behavior and city's past approach to similar situations (zabaleta and tevez, who was far worse).

gervinho impressed in the tournament though. much better than when he was at arsenal.

markvmc @ 6/24/2014 6:05 PM
From the reverse angle, that looked to me like Samaras stood on his own foot.
markvmc @ 6/24/2014 6:07 PM
Funny, Suarez has bitten more people than my dog, but she's the one who has to wear the muzzle.
gunsnewing @ 6/24/2014 7:54 PM
Just watched Suarez. What a fuckin Animal. Ban him for life

Disgusting human being or animal

IronWillGiroud @ 6/24/2014 9:50 PM
Maybe is e just a nervous reaction from Suarez and nothing more, like a preservation instinct

Don't jump to conclusions about cannibalism

gunsnewing @ 6/24/2014 9:57 PM
There would have to be more studies done on primates to determine if biting is an acquired natural defensive mechanism.

Put Suarez in a cage for a few weeks and observe

gunsnewing @ 6/24/2014 9:58 PM
Or maybe it's as simple as bath salts and he needs rehabilitation

He should be banned for life. There's no room for this stiff in a WC
