From Neymar's intentional elbow to the head of Luka Modric, to Gustavo's violent, criminal stomp on Modric's ankle (which might keep Croatia's best player out for the rest of the tournament), to the disallowed Croatia equalizer,

the fix was in on this one.

Croatia was sacrificed to quell any potential social unrest that could have erupted had the hosts lost the opening game.

Croatia outclassed Brazil for stretches of the game and if the cup was played in any other country in the world Croatia would be going into their second match with a point (or three) on the board.

Bullshit.

Brasil could've spotted you guys 3 goals and Brasil would still win

Who is your favorite all time NBA baller?

Pekovic or Toni Kukoc?

I agree, with 12 men soccer becomes a much easier game,

Petrovic is my favorite player

To be fair Pletikosa should've saved both of Brazil's first two goals, but there is no excuse for that shameful display by FIFA referee

They sacrificed Croatia,

Brazil is a dirty, violent and criminally-minded team that is over hyped and would have trouble advancing past the group stage if not for its reputation and its status as the host nation

Hahaha, exaggerate much?!

Yea right, that was being mild.

Taken on their own each incident might be harmless enough and no less than 3 blatant decisions forms a pattern.

Neymar's viscious, premeditated elbow to the face of Luka Modric was Brazil's ignoble way of telling the visitors that Brazil can do no wrong in its role as FIFA's pet team and that the Brazilians knew it.

In any other game Neymar's elbow is an automatic red-card. The backlash of sending off the host nation's poster boy 30 minutes into the opening game would have been enemormous, however, and it was clear that calling a fair game was never an option for Nishimura.

And what can you say about the penalty? That's two.

Taking away a Croatian equalizer late in the game just added insult to injury. Soft foul with the Brazilian player again forcing contact by jumping into Ivica Olic.

And we can go on about the dirty plays, like Gustavo's brutal heel stomp to the ankle of Modric which might leave Croatia's best player sidelined for the rest of the tournament.

Brazil made a mockery of the game and they had all the help in the world from the most corrupt sport governing body in the world in FIFA.

Disgrace.

Hahahahaha hilarious and at the same time really shitty,

It is my hope that the aggrieved Croats will find even more motivation for their last two matches. Even with seemingly the world against them, Croatia successfully played their style of attractive football and deserved at least a draw from the opener,

This Italy team doesn't play like the Italy teams of the last few years. They are faster, more athletic and Balotelli makes them a serious contender. England on the other hand underachieves as usual.
IronWillGiroud @ 6/14/2014 7:56 PM
england blows and always so over hyped, they're an average team and have been floating around in the mediocre pool for a long time now,

Yeah, their team this year is not as good. Rooney is so overrated.

England good tacticians. Good defense and effort. Not not very skilled. Lack foot speed.

It wasn’t just the obvious Fred dive that the hapless Japanese referee bought. Anyone counted the number of little, middle-sized and fairly big decisions to go against Croatia? You’d have lost count. Throw-ins, corners, little niggly free-kicks. Neymar not getting sent off for that elbow before he scored his first? The foul to win the ball back for Oscar to score the third? Croatia’s goal being disallowed at 2-2. The referee was not up to the task of dealing with the pressure – World Cup referees rarely are. Mind you, us Brits’ normal standpoint of smugly patronising the rest of the world about ‘the quality’ of their referees was undone by Graham Poll and his three yellow cards. Thanks Poll.

Japan won the Asia cup last time and are a good team. They could make it out of the group to the knockout stage.

they're historically solid if not the most exciting team, and clean and without dirty playing (looking at you brazil--- the dirtiest team in the world)

so it's refreshing to watch japan play the game.

You are right I was just surprised by the the scoring opportunities Mexico had. Cameron really blows

Well no one blows in the World Cup but you know what I mean

Why is there outrage though? He was offside and that should not have been a goal. I thought maybe there was a rule change I wasn't aware of.

Clearly onside. If you just looked at where the attacker was with respect to the defender nearest him, he looked off. But there was a defender on the left wing (bottom of the screen) clearly playing him on.

If I did not see that, my bad. Thank you for clarifying.

Reading back on that, I could have been a bit less of a dick. Sorry about that; in my defense, I was a bit Allanfanned.

disagree. the team is not overhyped. no one in england, nor the manager hodgson, expects them to go far as the old "golden generation" who never won anything has basically been phased out, except for gerrard.

they are actually better than some think, and play with more pace and attacking football than the past with their young talents like sterling, sturridge, barkley, lallana and oxlade-chamberlin. welbeck is okay to me.

sterling showed his potential again yesterday as he did with liverpool this past season.

if anyone on their team is overhyped it's rooney. other than that one cross he stunk it up and had to be switched with welbeck because he was getting killed on his side of the pitch by the italian winger.

unbelievable he just got a huge contract with man u.

england will be interesting next world cup, i think, and they did fairly well yesterday if you ask me. the heat was hurting them more than italy because like lebron they relied more on their athleticism, so in the heat players got more cramps, and then they had to try to come back late which is even harder in that weather i think.

they'll make it out of their group since uruguay choked against costa rica.
