Well we're on $91mil, then minus $23.5mil if Melo opts out, that brings us down to $67.5mil. The luxury tax is $71.7mil, and the aron is $4mil over that, I just don't get if you're allowed to go over the apron to do a S&T, or whether it's just the starting point that matters.

Either way, I'm not a fan of Parsons.

I'm not exactly sure how a lot of this stuff works but does Houston have to do a sign and trade with us? Can't Melo just walk and we get nothing?

I think they have to move Asik and Lin to clear up the cap space (I think they count for $8mil each)

Also, just remembered, I think the luxury tax is projected to go up to $77mil next season. However this also makes it easier for Houston to get under the cap and sign him outright. Salary cap will be $63mil.

Ahhh ok thanks dog. Lin back in NY is definitely something I never would have seen coming.

Hmm... Salary cap is due to be about $63mil. Hoopshype has the Rockets salary commitments as around $71mil, but they've made a mistake with Asik and Lin (counting them as $14mil each instead of $8mil), so deduct $12mil from that figure, leaving them on $59mil. They have to move both Lin and Asik, and even then I don't think they'd be able to offer a max, unless I'm missing something?

he best fit for his game. That's not to say Fisher won't make some tweaks and add more p&rs, but it's too early to tell either way.

I agree- the good thing about the triangle is that we no longer need a great, creative, passing PG, so we can focus on other qualities i.e. a defensive PG who can knock down threes- Lin isn't really either of those things. I can't go through another season watching opposing PG's abuse us at will!

Derek fisher and Jason Kidd were worst 3pt shooters than Lin at that point in their careers. Guys do improve. Especially in a good system

Lin shot 36%. Getting to 38-40% won't be all that hard
