What is our actual cap figure as of now going into the summer of 2015? If Melo leaves and we do a sign a trade, is it important to make sure Felton is included in that trade so that we can dump his salary? Also, are we allowed to trade Chandler for a draft pick without taking back any salary? Is that allowed?

Getting rid of felton in the deal will seriously devalue any return for Melo
We can trade Tyson for a pick to a team that can absorb his salary in their cap

YOu can trade to team with cap space for draft picks.
We don't have leverage in a sign and trade. Denver did when they traded with us but in this version of MeloBolt we can lose him for nothing. To insist a team take Felton would likley mean taking back a worse contract. In the Event there are multiple offers and a very competitive bidding procss do we actually get any leverage but remember, Melo determines who he signs with, not who offers the best trade for him.
So dumping felton is unlikely. The best scenario is Felton adapts to the triangle and can come off the bench and give us solid back up minutes. The kid is not an NBA Starter but can be a solid bench player for a good team. He was the pt guard on a 54 win team just a season ago.

The point guard was Kidd lets not kid ourselves into thinking it was Felton that was running the show. He was but a cog that played decently when guided by Kidd.
If you send Felton in a trade with Melo look for Hardaway or Shump to be included.

agree with both of you but the point is Felton was on the floor, alot. Handling Felton (assuming he is back) will probably be Fisher's first real challenge. Many interesting things to play out.

Yeah, Felton will be on the team, barring a buyout. I'm hopeful Ray is in a gym working his ass off in an effort to prove everyone wrong. Maybe he can build enough value for a mid season trade.

His contract isnt unreasonable either. its not like he is making 8 million a year
