I think this trade gets the Knicks 2 good basketball players for one limited one.....if this is being discussed we need to be up in that. Knicks can sort out the roster as time goes on.
As much as I trashed David Lee's jazz hands defense, I miss everything else that he brought to the basketball court.

Barnes has poor basketball IQ and his skills are over rated. David Lee is due to go downside porous on defense and why would we buyback a guy we dumped out already?

Still the idea is out there..can you think of any other players we could trade an expiring contract for?
The return of jazz hands lol I guess the deal would be OK. I would wait until the Memo situation is resolved before I consider adding Lee's salary.

Yeah, small ball four is the only position I've seen Barnes excellent at. It kills me that the authors of this article sees Barnes as some cherished asset.

That's the biggest thing. Barnes is only 2 yrs in the league so its to early to tell with him.
I could accept these type of deals if this is apart of a bigger plan. Like swapping Tyson, Bargs, Amare for 2015 contracts along with young talented pieces. Changing 2015 to the 2016 cap space and 3-4 young talents.

his salary and possible decline is an issue, but we have to figure out what kinda team we want to build....
If Melo signs at a discount and we bring in Lee, we still have enough bread to get another guy to play with them.
Lee and Melo would compliment each other really well out there at the 3 and 4 spots....the Knicks have to figure out the rest but it could formulate into something special

2015 is nice but who are we targeting? David Lee alone isn't getting us a championship, but adding David Lee to Melo and then sticking a few other good high character guys could make the team something to look at.
If you keep Melo it is still an awful deal but considering the 2015 class id Love is traded it makes slightly more sense. I guess it's a poor version of Kobe and Pau due to age.
Getting rid of Tyson is awesome... And Barnes just needs a change the ball hogging of curry and klay Thompson never allowed him to get into a rhythm. And David lee is a nice piece way better then Tyson ... I'd do it and next move would be to move Felton for a draft pick.
lee is an able passer and would look pretty decent in the triangle. barnes is a bit of a knucklehead shot-selection wise, but being in the restricted in the triangle would probably do wonders for his game. id make this trade for sure.
People are sleeping on Tyson's value. I'd rather have a pick or a younger proven player.
