Nothing against Melo. I like him but the situation here is not right for him. It's better if he moves on and we go into rebuild mode. If he stays we can't rebuild and he is late in his career for a rebuild so it's just no longer a good fit for him to stay here. A trade is best for all parties involved. It just makes the most sense. He can go to a playoff ready team and we can get to clean house and start with a new core over the next couple of seasons.
I'm extremely curious to see what kind of players Phil drafts and signs. Just going off what he treasures most in players you can get a general idea, but not completely. The only way we'll know for sure is for him to have picks he can use to redo this franchise. If he is able to land a few picks in this draft i'd be ecstatic!!! Trade Tyson for a pick and Melo for maybe a couple...

what I also find funny is how carmelo kept quiet and let denver rape us in this deal... he helped denver gain leverage they should have never had, while we may get completely shafted... The bulls don't need us, they can make a deal with orlando to clear cap space and sign carmelo while acquiring a player like aflalo....
Yet TKF is the villain.... LOL!!!
Looking forward to reading your Melo free posts! Must say, if we get some reasonable pieces in a sign and trade, we may come out of this okay.
The Orlando deal actually has them taking on salary, as it is rumoured.
I want Bargs gone, I hate him- personified everything that was wrong with last years team.
Orlando deal? Is that a three way trade with affalo coming to NY?
no the bulls would deal with orlando to get aflalo and they would not need us at all to sign carmelo..
i'm a big Melo fan. but he can get lost. the guy has sooooo much mileage on him. woody rode him into the ground. two bad shoulders. max money for that? no thanks.
i'll laugh at chicago come next spring when both rose and melo are hobbled.

please stop with this "situation was not right for him" as if this just happened to be the case now.. It was never right for him from day one.. denver was always the better situation for him than NY... he forced his way here for selfish reasons for both he and his horrible wannabe actress of a wife..
we never needed carmelo!!!! NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree. Melo does have a lot of milega eon him and he is in his 30's so its very risky giving him a bigtime deal. Also melo si what he is he isnt gonna become a better overall player at this point. We all know he is a great scorer but you need to be more than a scorer to lead a team to a title or at least close to a title

The reason i say that is because i dont want to be accused of as a melo hate just because i want the team to move in another direction

You won't be. The ones "accused" of Melo hate have actually said they hated Melo. I and many others have criticized him plenty and none of us carry that label.
Yes!!! trade him to the bulls for butler boozer and 2 first round picks...or melo and smith to clippers for jordan, first round picks, crawford, collison, bulloks......Then we can trade Tyson Chandler for jeff teague

If he truly wnats to Bulls AND wants big money then teh knicks will be a in a good position. Obviously we wont be ablle to get maximum value but getting a couple of mid round picks plus somehtign else is better than nothing

+1
I really do hate him... just like Marbury and Isiah.

I actually disagree. After we got him there was still a chance that the Knicks could build a balanced roster before they made the Chandler deal. That deal made it impossible to add CP3. Now even if they couldn't get CP3 there were other PG's that could've made this roster work much better. Melo can survive without a PG but the rest of the team needs a PG badly. IMO that is the one thing that has set this team back and not Melo.

Well at least the Knicks are not giving him a max deal that was the most important thing
I wonder if Clipper fans acted like this when Cp3 opted out...smh @ Knicks fans we have the worst fan base

Actually we have a great fanbase for the most part. The Chris Paul situation was different since it was pretty clear weasnt leaving even if he opted out. Even if he did leave the clippers still had decent pieces unlike the Knicks because of the trade.

What decent piece did we trade?? and does that decent piece have better numbers than JR Smith??

Thats what probably scares Phil most of all. He probably doesnt want to pay a monster deal to someone in his 30's.

I don't think this is about what Phil wants. I think if Anthony wanted a max deal push comes to shove he gets it. Phil may want to clean house but I think Melo could get a max deal from the Knicks is that was what he wanted.

I just cant wait for this mess to be over. If melo opted in i would have been fine but now that he opted out im hoping we get some picks and start bringin in some young talent and have plenty of cap space for next summer
