Lets say Melo stays and Lebron stays and Love stays for now....
Kobe is all alone with the Lakers putting up 25pts per aka his usual stats....Kobe requests a trade to the Knicks. The Lakers grant one of their greats his wish....we send Amare and Bargnani, salary dump just before the deadline.
Melo gets Kobe for one last run in NYC....
It no doubt crossed my mind but I suspect that Lakers will be able to field a decent team this upcoming season with their cap space.

I can't see kobe playing decent basketball...if they aren't winning with purpose Kobe is going to be unhappy....it's a long shot and a lot has to not happen for this to happen like I said....but I'm bored as fuck and this is what I do when Im bored.

They'll likely end up with Loul Deng, will re-sign Pau Gasol and could trade for a Omer Asik-Jeremy Lin combo. That's good enough to be an 8th seed in the West, IMO.
Kobe is not old enough to play here. Give it 2-3yrs
If you want Kobe the Zen move is
Sign and Trade w Lakers - Melo and Tyson and Felton for Kobe Nash and pick #7 and a future pick and whichever young player of theirs Phil wants- They can go for Lebron and Kobe plays for Fisher and next year we're under the cap with talent and culture established
Kobe in Knick's jersey? damn...........are you acting for the best interest of this franchise?

get a couple picks back and a young guy or two thats not bad
You know what that is very possible. Lakers going hard after Lebron and Melo I would assume but Kobe would have to go. And I can definitely see Kobe wanting to join Phil. I know he wasn't happy with lakers management for not netting Phil. He loves playing in New York.
I have no interest in him as a player at this point but the Knicks would be in great shape with pick 7 this year and next years 1st.
This move is very realistic. Get it done
Then we make a push for Durant with Fisher here. He's not Lebron but he is younger
Durant
2014 #7
2015 1st
Kobe(discounted rate)
I F'N love it!
Kobe not Joining PHil, he be joining Fish.
Kobe not contending for a thing here but smack dab in the middle of a rebuild.
His contract is a killer.
It would be a starphuch seat seller in a rebuild for Durant in two years.
Kobe can play in NY, he can play for the Nets.
Kobe is not playing for any other organization other than the Lakers, unless his still playing at the age of 40.
Bump
Phil is too calm. He's like Melo could stay or go whatever.
The Lakers are do or die this summer. They want to try and get Melo and or Lebron or tear it down.
My thing is its already tore down. They only have kobe and Nash on the books anyone else isn't worth mentioning.
The knicks can offer Amare and filler for Kobe....Kobe wasting massive cap space just to miss the playoffs in the west kinda doesn't make any sense. Sure they can put together a rag tag bunch to play with Kobe but again the west is deep. Why not save the money and just rebuild towards the next dynasty.
Kobe will always be a Laker. If he's going anywhere it can only be the Mecca to play with Melo. That shot would work and it would send shockwaves through the east. Having to deal with a Melo and Kobe, maybe Pau with Calderón and dalembert. Add odom, and any mix of our young guns off the bench.
How fucking epic does this sound?
wow people here really cannot bear to rebuild.
I didn't see your thread from a week ago and started a very similar thread today. WHen you really think about it, why would Melo go to LA when it makes twice as much sense for everyone for Kobe to come here. Anyway rather than rewrite, my thoughts linked below:

sitting around waiting for marginal all-stars to become free agents and begging them to come is not rebuilding....
In my scenario, the Knicks trade Amare and a filler...that could be Shump, that could be the trade exemption we just got from Dallas....that's it. Kobe has 2 years left. 2015 is a myth, 2016 is another pipe dream but we'd have the cap space to still be a player in that off season...
so who can't bear to rebuild? Gasol, Melo, Kobe for 2 years? Sounds like we're going for it....and we're still holding on to just about every young player....
What the problem is???

I would love to see Melo and Kobe compete in a chuckfest. That would probably also make Gasol a really happy camper.
