Knicks · Phil Speaks on the Dallas trade (page 4)

Gotta get guys BEFORE they get good. Larking MIGHT be that.

He can shoot.

Asik younger and > than Tyson now. Tyson on the way down and gone next year. He don't get you a first round pick. The pick has some protections. Asik next to Davis is what Pels wanted, not FluTyson.

Ellington can shoot. Hardaway can shoot. Caledron can shoot.

Tyson can't shoot, Asik can't shoot, felton sucks.

If Melo stays, you have shooters around him. Triangle likes shooters.

Good teams are built on small moves. DOn't get to comfortable with these guys either, they might get moved. Its a fluid situation. This was a great move by phil. Not starphuckedly amazing that elevates the team, but improves it for the moment.

The 34 pick is like a first rounder in this deep draft . The 51 maybe gets you a fallen star. If your staff is good, you'll get value! If you stgarphuck and trade picks, you get ZERO.

I think its funny that some of you think Phil dropped the ball. You don't even know the game he is playing!

Neither do I, but its far from over! this is a multi year process!

early 2nd rounders are often a better deal than late 1st rounders.

SELF HATING KNICKS FANS ANNOY ME!!! Now we can't be happy about a legit prospect as opposed to what we gave up? Since when is it something to poo poo just cuz a prospect hasn't had a chance to play yet? What if Larkin is a Jameer Nelson, Isiah Thomas, Ty Lawson or Nate Robinson? Why rag on him cuz he's small. 5-11 with a 44" vert and 3.08 3/4 sprint isn't bad. Lets see how Fish and Phil use him.

Unrealistic Knick fans annoy me. You're shooting your wad on a player that you haven't even seen play at a pro level. Why? Because he's a Knick so only good things will happen? Yes, guys like Isiah Thomas, Jameer Nelson and Ty Lawson have enjoyed some success. But there are far more men with Larkin's profile that have failed to live up to the hype than have met it, see Sebastian Telfair, Speedy Claxton, Andre Barrett, Jose Barea, maybe DJ Augustin, etc. As I've said, time will tell.

No one is saying he's a LOCK to be a great player. What's "unrealistic" about thinking a prospect could succeed if given a chance? Man EVERY Prospect can fail. That's not the point. I'm saying that the kid does have legit NBA skills and just hasn't had a chance to play yet, so as a prospect he's a good get. You're just pissin on the kid for no good reason. You have NOTHING to really use against the kid at this point cuz he hasn't actually played due to injury. He was scouted as a player with legit NBA skills and talent and you want to poo poo the pick before YOU EVER SEE him play. What makes your take valid given the facts i've posted about his actual talent level? You haven't presented anything of consequence except his draft being weak. Still doesn't mean he can't be a good role player for this team. Can we at least see what he has before we kick dirt on him?

Fair points. I'll reserve judgement until the season starts. But to clear things up, I don't necessarily have anything against Larkin; I just don't think he and filler is enough for Tyson Chandler.

I think Mavs fans are in for a rude awakening. They better not expect the 2011 Tyson because he is long gone and lets face it Tyson flourished in dallas mainly because that 2011 dallas team was so deep. they gave us larking who if helathy can be a relaly good point guard and they gave us early who was a first round talent

I think you are valuing Tyson too highly. His past two seasons has been abysmal. When offered the opportunity to improve his meager offensive skills, he declined two years in a row. Constantly sick, poor offensive output, poor communication and leadership skills made him a poor team mate and player. It good to be rid of him.

Maybe if you get team options on years 2 and 3.

waaay overrating I have no clue what Nard is thinking Tyson missed 27 games last year. 16 the year before. Zero scoring. He's a very low impact player for his salary. Dudes gotten a free pass here last couple years. Hes been terrible
