Knicks · Do You Love Our Yutes? (page 1)

All of a sudden, Tim Hardaway Jr, Jeremy Tyler and Cole Aldrich have some new running buddies. It is not a rebuild, a restock or a reload - it is simply different. Fresh. Uncharted. Unexpected. Unpredictable.

Unpredictable.

The Assistant Coaches have yet to be hired. Summer. League is in a few weeks. The prospects of another two yutes being invited to Greenburgh I. October are strong.

JR Smith and Iman Shumoert are on the clock.

Amare Stoudemire is the old man in the club. Cool.

Somewhere, former employee number 7 is checking into a hotel in another city. Uncle Phil has changed the course of Knicks history.

Are you not entertained?

It will be interesting , but the chances of more than 1 of these guys turning into a legit rotation player are not in are favor

don't be so sure - they may have to by default!

There have been a couple seasons where I wished we could have brought the summer league squad in as our regular season squad - not because they were talented, but because they gave effort and competed.

I think we struggled this past year because everyone waited for Carmelo to bail us out. So there was no effort.

Chandler mailed it in last year. Felton struggled, and I think a change in scenery will help him immensely.

But give me 5/12 guys that give me their all, and I'll take that over all stars with no chemistry and no drive who are waiting around to test free agency, and to get paid.

I hope we bring back Cole & make him our starting center. I hope we give Tyler time. I hope we can develop and get these new players in here and a chance to contribute.

Based on what?

Scouting reports or their combined chemistry?

How many people heard of Charles Oakley in college?

“We have many handicaps, obviously, with our salary cap being what it is. But there’s always a possibility. We’re not going to rule ourselves out of any gambit that gives us a chance to do something really special.”

- Phil Jackson

Summer League will be crazy

Just based off the percentages. That said, Thanos DA Titan, and Early are both hard workers and I wouldn't bet against these dude. They may never turn into frontline starters, but I think guys are willing to do whatever it takes to stick in the league.

I like that we have youth. Not terribly impressed by the overall talent but we have some good fresh legs. Early is well rounded guy who should be able to play some solid bench minutes right away. The mix of THjr, Larkin, TA, Early and Cole are some good fresh legs if they are around NBA talent.

Cracks me up... on Ellington Phil says "I really dont know much about him. He was a salary match"

Time will tell. Main thing is what happens with Melo and what the team looks like without him.

Yep percentages, I like what the Knicks are doing and if we are going to be bad next season I prefer to watch young players "Its what I couldnt stand about Isiah's Teams bad with Malik Rose" but lets put things in perspective.

Melo is gone why is he taking less salary when he will be carrying this team for the next few years. Its not a good fit for what Phil is doing and what Melo wants.

I think we did some good through addition by subtraction. I'd love to see Tyler get all Tyson's minutes. His help defense is immensely better than Tyson's and I think he has potential to rebound and score just as well. Cole brings some energy but i still think he's a fringe rotation guy at best. It's possible Timmy might have to take on a bigger scoring role and as long as he's moving off the ball a lot I think there's some hope there. I'm not convinced he's a good enough ball handler to just throw him the rock and let him create though. I haven't seen much on the rookies yet, but I wasn't impressed initially. And I'm still curious as to what if anything this regime change can bring out in Shumpert, if he's still on the roster. Oh and Larkin seems to be more of a small 2 guard but he also has some potential. God knows we need some guys with handles and quickness.

Overall, Nothing all that special but I like the things I've heard from Phil and Fish. If Melo is gone for nothing, so be it. I think we're already better defensively with the Chandler move. If Fish can teach these guys some proper fundamentals on at least the defensive end and implement a good system, along with a healthy Stat, maybe we can play some good defense and compete a bit offensively running the triangle through Amare. We are pretty thin on offensive talent but in a weak conference out of all these bad teams the team that plays sound defense just might grab that 8th spot.

Well I know Ellington he can be a sniper like Novak in the right system

Another yoot that we have is Ahmad Nivins. I wonder if Phil will give him a chance and invite him to Summer League

misterearl @ 6/27/2014 4:05 PM
Shane Larkin will play in the Las Vegas summer league opener July 11.

“I think I can bring a lot to the triangle offense. Derek Fisher wasn’t the tallest guard, but what he did is succeed and have a great career. I’m looking forward to learning from him. I’ve never played in the system, so I want to get there early."

Can't Wait

GustavBahler @ 6/27/2014 4:13 PM
According to an article, Larkin picked up the offense in D league very quickly and was running the team in short order. Good to have off the bench with a few aging PGs on the roster. They're also good to have to mentor Larkin. We also have a coach who is a former starting PG for a championship team to show him the ropes, so Shane should be in good hands.
