I know that this is the Knicks forum but I think this is something that must be said.Miami is now playing a dangerous game. They are trying to buy championships. I just found out that Udonis Haslem has opted out of his contract to take less money in order to help the Heat get more cap space to bring in top players. Lebron don't have to worry because he makes more in endorsements that getting from the Heat. People got on me when I said that Amare should opt out and we pay him over 2 years with an opt out next year also.
The heat plan is to get Melo. If this keeps up we will have 5 teams with all the best players and the rest of the league wondering what to do. I think something must be done to stop this movement or just get ride of the cap and let it be open season and if you can sign a player for 150 million this will stop this teaming up thing for less money to win a championship or even compete for one. What doe you think.
Maybe BUT lets be honest the main reason why Miami is always on top is Lebron. As much as i hate him as a person the guy is just scary good. I mean he is overall talent is unreal and his is a physical freak of nature. I mena he carried a worthless Cavs teams to be a contender for years.
If that's the case, maybe the Knicks may finally have their day in the sun. We have plenty of money and should be a prime beneficiary of players looking to play with one another. Either way, I doubt it hurts the NBA brand as a whole. People tend to forget that only a handful of teams have held a monopoly on the championship. And in spite of increased parity, only 7 teams (Lakers, Celtics, Bulls, Rockets, Pistons, Spurs and Mavericks) have won it in the past 30 years. But what I do know is that since superteams like the Heat have formed, NBA revenue has reached a fever pitched. So is this a bad thing, especially with our franchise being based in New York?

Agreed. I think thats Phil's plan. Lets face it james dolan has basically run the knicks for years until phil got here and we all know what a mess he made. He threw away draft picks and young assets for bloated contracts and one dimensional players. Phil seems to have a plan for longer success even if that means not signing huge contracts to one "star"

Now upon us? Have you been following the Lakers for the past 40 years? Top markets have always gone out and obtained the top talent. Sure, you might have guys like Duncan or Miami's big three, who will sacrifice some funds for the good of the team. Fortunately, or unfortunately depending on your view, most young players are unwilling to make that sacrifice. Dudes want to get paid. Personally, I like the player movement. It makes the offseasons more interesting.

San Antonio is a different place. a hidden place not like New York. The KNICKS will never be like San Antonio Spurs. If you want that you better move to San Antonio Texas. New York has too many things going on It never sleep. Guys always partying. The best New York can do is try to find guys with good character and basketball IQ Thats why there is only one Derek Jeter in New York baseball. You want to be like the Spurs then move to San Antonio. First of all Phil Jackson philosophy is different that the Spurs coach.
We can't build like this year's championship team since the residents of the city never sleep! I've heard it all now
This new cba is ridiculous. In attempting to rein in free agency the owners have created an environment where players are colluding to form superstar teams.
What's ridiculous about that?
People want to work with other people that they like and can succeed with. That's never going to change.

I think the owners wanted more parity in the league. The super team trend can't be good.

Maybe trying to stop people from having any say in who their teammates are is the ridiculous part.

Are you familiar with the Yankees? They play baseball.
so it's:
1) no salary cap = auctioning oneself to the highest bidder = being a whore
2) salary cap = deciding who one wishes to play with and adjusting ones price according to honest self-appraisal = making ones own destiny by choosing ones teammates
what a great teacher we have in papabear.
