Knicks · How Good Will Doug McDermott Be? (page 1)

Was just wondering because he might be a Knick someday if Melo heads to Chicago.

He will score ok. But talk about a bad defender. Also if you get physical with him he doesn't like it. Except for 1 game where he couldn't miss, Wichita St held him far below his average every other time and that was with Early defending him, who wasn't a great defender, or our 6'2" defensive specialist on him at times. He does have some nice moves though and gets his shot off quick. I think when teams figure out to just get physical with him he will struggle some.

Overrated, terrible defender . Spot up shooter only in the NBA surprised he went so high

Yeah, team with athletic defenders gave him some trouble. Still, he has a quick release and a variety of floaters and half hooks to get his shot off. He kinda reminds me of Antwan Jamison with the different release points he uses. He can pump fake and use and evasive dribble, which separates him from shooters like Steve Novak. He also did good against team USA last year, so I'm guessing he'll be able to score. His defense sucks. There's no getting around it. But teams play semi-zones, traps and other defensive schemes that will help cover his weaknesses. He'll be playable as long as he learns to read angles and predict where his help is coming from.

I think Chi is a good place for him as they have a lot of pieces to cover his weaknesses.

Agreed, however, I am not sure if there is BOTH CA and him TOGETHER to finish games, just too much weakness's to cover with their lack of mobility/athleticism as tweeners
I agree the Bulls are one of the best places thats that can utilize him and COVER his liabilities

In my opinion, he is the JJ Redick of SF/PF's, which will take some time for him to adapt to the NBA's combination of athleticism/size/speed as well as the shot clock/less zone
Speaking of which, they also have signed seldomly used Jimmer Freddette
