Do the knicks need to move something (i.e. the 57th pick) with the exception to get a player for that amount?

Im about 99% sure we can do the trade for just cash. We don't ave to include a player. This along with the MLE should allow us to add some nice depth potentially. We need a couple of bodies to play center at the very least.

That's the point I was keying on too. It's possible for LA to resign Pau and trade him to us for a Player that won't make as much but is covered by the amount of the trade exception. I think that is the way it can also be used.

I'm thinking LA would prefer Ellington as opposed to Odom who I'm sure they would want no part of being associated with LA again. Ellington is at $2.5 mil.

Im not sure if u can use an exception like that anyway. We might be only able to trade for a 3.6 million dollar player
