It would only be fitting for the Knicks to offer him the most money and then he misses most of the year with surgery on both shoulders

that actually would be the Spurs model. Melo gets surgery, misses year, Knicks draft star player, sign max FA and 2015 starts with a new big 3

Thats like 15 years ago. The Spurs desereve all the credit in tehw orld for being the most consistent team in sports since 98

are we so sure Melo won't pull a JR Smith and get shoulder surgery after resigning?

Patty Mills is getting surgery after lighting up the finals.

Last we saw of Melo he was damaged goods on the court.

That'd be a best case scenario in my book. Not only would Melo get some rest to help prolong his career, we'd be terrible enough to maximize our chances of getting the no.1 overall pick in 2015 ala the Spurs in '97 when they got Tim Duncan.

There absolutely no way on earth a phil jackson team would have the worst record in the league.

NY is not helping any team with a S & T for Melo unless they rape them, and melo is not going to a gutted team.

And when Ewing was here the Knicks went to two NBA finals and went 10 straight years of not only making the playoffs but getting to at least the 2nd round. 10 straight! Its a lot easier to be a "great organization" when you have a rock steady player to build around no? Great job getting Parker and Maun in there during that time. They deserve all the credit... your right. Just be realistic though. They got the one magical elusive piece.
