Knicks · Preferred Sign & Trade (page 1)

With Lebron in cle it's hard to imagine the Knicks can field a team in the next few years to beat them. If I could get a young star in his rookie deal like Wiggins I would jump at that. Wiggins and Bennet and we get a big trade exception also..
smackeddog @ 7/11/2014 2:26 PM
I would far, far prefer a trade for Wiggins and Bennett- in fact I would be delighted! Rebuild completely, but skip 2 years of tanking.

I'm not sold on Kevin Love as a main piece that can be built around so I wouldn't really want to trade for him. Not a fan of Harden either.

Bulls at best can give you an average package back, but that would help us establish a culture and improve our defense, so I wouldn't be upset at that prospect.

Losing him for nothing and signing him for the max are the two worst outcomes for me.

A few days, I would've thought that was ridiculous. Now, I'm not too sure. It depends on what Kevin Love wants to do but if he chooses to go somewhere else....Wiggins might be as good as ours. The Cavs are dumb and LeBron loves Melo, so I could see it happening on this premise.

NYStateOfMind @ 7/11/2014 3:09 PM
I see a strong interest in Wiggins. If Love goes elsewhere or LBJ simply prefers Melo, how would a S&T work with the Cavs with the cap?

I agree signing Melo for the max or him leave for free are the worst options. I like trades with Cavs, Bulls, or Rockets, maybe a threeway to make all teams happy.

Some blue chips would be awesome, like a Wiggins. Turning in Melo for the top pick did seem unreal days and weeks ago, maybe we can do it and the Cavs also have other interesting chips to spare.

Even with LeBron signing for the max, the Cavs should have about $15-$20 million. That should be enough to get Melo....maybe trade one of the Canadians (Tristan Thompson or Anthony Bennett) to make sure he gets his max, with enough room to bring Ray Allen and Mike Miller aboard.

Cavs dont have that kind of cap room so no trade exemptions. It would have to be Waiters, Thompson, Varejo, Bennett for Melo and Dalembert because I doubt they send us back Wiggins

LeBron might love Melo, but how would they play? Melo at 3 and LeBron at 4? Vice versa?

positions would be meaningless. Lebron can play any position.

Your right they only have 24 before Lebron so thats what 19 million in space, only problem is why the hell are they trading with us . All they have to do is dump Bennett to anyone for a pick or Waiters, bam max salary
NYStateOfMind @ 7/11/2014 3:48 PM
If they moved other players to max Melo out, how can they still add Miller & Allen with no cap space? Varejao is not being traded, lol. He is the last remaining piece of the old Cavs and a close friend of LBJ. Plus LBJ said he can't wait to play bball with him again and I assume he didn't mean playing at the Akron family and friends reunion bbq.

Having Ewing, fixed or not, made this an elite team, despite MJ being the wall too high to get over and the no foul call on Smith. Getting Wiggins would be amazing to start a new era. When have we sniffed a top 5 pick since Ewing, let alone the overall #1. Cavs can't afford all these number 1 picks after their rookie contracts are up in a few years.

I can't see Melo leaving us dry in any scenario, especially after LBJ returns home admitting he did things in the wrong manner. That is why if LBJ wants Melo, it will most likely be via a trade.

Varejo makes 9 million that eats up a lot of space right there .I think they wouldnt mind parting with Bennett and Waiters but I can't see any way in hell they would trade us Wiggins

LeBron's a SF that played the PF during 3 of the 4 Heat title runs. Melo has played the 4 for the entire 2012-2013 season and a significant part of the 2013-2014 season. Neither guy would be unaccustomed to playing either position together...they've done it during the Olympics with each other.

Touche. The only explanation I could think of is the fact that the Cavs are a very poorly run franchise. Because of that, I always expect for then to make the wrong decision.

LaMarcus Aldridge, lol.

Back to the Cavs, they'd have $3.3 million to add Mike Miller or Ray Allen after exceeding the cap threshold. That is only enough for one of them though.

ummm lol what about the knicks. Honestly i would be thrilled if we got Wiggins and Waiters, had a tank year got another top 5 pick and went into 2015 FA with a young team.

I've been told that it's a new day and age, so...

And you wouldn't want to know the list of things I'd do for us to get Wiggins. Awful, awful, things, lol.
