Was it too much when he won 6th man of the yr? and help us win 54 games..
Like I said before, Jr can be very efficient for short and long stretches. I posted in another thread how I believe Jr had a TS% of 57% over his last 35-40 games. Anyway, they are having a discussion on realgm and they posted some numbers.
http://www.basketball-reference.com/pla ...http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopi...
JR first 29 games:
11.3 ppg (34.8% FG's, 33.9% 3PT FG's)
10 wins, 19 losses
JR's last 45 games:
16.5 ppg (45.3% FG's, 42.6% 3PT FG's)
24 wins, 21 losses
http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopi...
To say, "not top 10, not even close", that's not fair man. 39.4% was 25th best in the league.http://stats.nba.com/leadersGrid.html?S ... CT*GE*39.0
Also, only FIVE guys in the ENTIRE NBA shot 39.4% or better from the 3PT line while attempting 480+ threes for the season.
Stephen Curry - 42.4% on 615 attempts
Klay Thompson - 41.7% on 535 attempts
Gerald Green - 40.0% on 510 attempts
JR Smith - 39.4% on 480 attempts
Damian Lillard - 39.4% on 554 attempts

Yea I think the entire team was pretty much submarined by Dolan's antics and some really bad circumstances with guys coming back from injury, Tyson's leg break and family issues, Felton's mental distress over family issues etc. It was just a wasted season. This year they can wipe the slate clean and start with a more solid and united front office. The SL team is getting things off to a good start so far. Gotta see how JR and the other vets respond to this as well.
Nix im not sure if we're in a minority here, but I see the potential for this team to win the East easily, if everyones relatively healthy, and no trade rumors.
the knicks need to give jr smith the heave-ho. dude's a clown and we're talking culture change.
outside of dolan and his cronies, no clowns allowed.

For me, yes. I would rather cut ties now.

I agree that the Knicks could win the east. I was just watching the KNicks beat the Bulls in game 1 of the conference semi finals from 92. I kept thinking about what a dramatic change there was once Riles was in place. The Knicks won 12 more games with Riles and most of the roster was there the previous season.
Why is Smith held out for hope of getting it, on his 3rd contract here?
I don't get it am I missing something
6-7 players in contract yrs 1 of them being him, is a suicide recipe.
Phil will have to attach a very valuable asset in order to move him
JR has a player option in 2015-2016, so he's basically gonna player this year as a contract year so he can opt out and make more money. Food for thought.

I'll be happy when JR is gone. However, there is definitely a market for scorers than can handle the rock and create their own shot. I'll wait until the deadline and let Phil try to find some value for him. JR's contract isn't bad by any means, but his welcome is warn out.

That's a little unrealistic to expect him to play Summer League.
I understand many vets are playing there but that's not going to fix Smith(2-3weeks of SL play), nor necessary
I will say hanging out in NYC clubs, taking pics and posting them on instagram flipping viewers off
and
Tweeting he's not going to be coming off the bench for like the second/third yr in a row is what you'd like to see end. It won't, he is what he is... natural fertilizer

I would be guessing yes, since he self destructed days after getting the award handed to him in the Boston series.
I like JR- I think you can critise him for a lot of stuff, but I think people go overboard. Can't get angry at someone for signing their contract before being operated on- happens all the time. Can't blame him for taking a few months to recover and find his game again after his op either. Pulling shoe laces is hardly an unforgivable sin.
Yeah, he needs to focus more on the court and not do stuff off the court that is detrimental to his game, and learn to pass more (he is a good passer when he puts his mind to it). I'll give him another chance.
I'm fine with some 'immaturity' (I'm immature myself), just so long as it doesn't lose us games.

Summer league? Really?
yup. if he's serious about participating in the triangle he should have volunteered so he has a better chance to learn it.

This would include players like Shumpert, Ellington, Bargnani and Amar'e too

So all players on all teams should play summer league? Or just JR?

Yet another reason EvilMoobyMelo's a clown too: skipping SL. Wait for it.

As should at minimum Bargnani(if healthy) Phil said expect surprises from him and Ellington
Smith is like a 10yr vet, it's rare to see those kind of players there.
