Agree. The guy signed his contract 10 days ago. Should he have said he doesn't care about winning? Where is all the outrage with Phil Jackson offering him the deal? The cba is what it is. If a max guy chooses to stay with his team he gets a 5th year and more money.

When this team is playing unselfish BB and winning games with the very same Melo as the lead player, there will be silence from his detractors. It's really not about his words. It's gonna be about what this team does on the court. We have IMO the best leaderships we've had in more than a decade. Phil is here and has been putting his people in place. We saw already how that impacted the SL team and all the decisions Phil has made so far have been to the betterment of this team. It's just the beginning but you get the sense that things are changing for the better. Guys are making too much of Melo's comments as if it really has any impact on what this team does on the court. It does not.

I contend that even STAT and Bargs can be positive contributors this last contract year under LEGIT LEADERSHIP. Phil and Fish have a better plan for this team and I think they can get more out of this teams players. If this team is in the playoffs and playing better BB that's really all that matters. I want to see Melo playing team oriented ball.
The Triangle doesn't even demand anything different from Melo because even if he plays exactly the same the REST of the team will be playing in the Triangle and running the offense as intended. That will help Melo by default. This is about DFish coaching and Phil building the roster to have balance and potency. Melo just helps to make it all more impactful. I think we'll see more of "Olympic Melo" in this offense. The plays lead to more scoring in the flow. Woody's offense did not and MDA's offense was too PG driven for Melo. This offense is NOT PG driven like MDA's and it's not stagnant like Woody's. This is why I have a very good feeling for this team's chances this season.

I, for one, prefer to like the players on the team I root for, and Anthony's hypocrisy is not exactly endearing to me. Everything he's done so far in terms of the original trade and this contract has been for him, and him alone.
Many folks on UK make a big deal about how "he should get as much as he can," or "how can he leave $30M on the table?" Fine, but something is really wrong with people if they don't have a reaction when Anthony, probably looking for some kind of love after seeing the general reaction to his fleecing of the Knicks, comes out and says its not the money, but winning, after getting $124M from the Knicks, and spurning less from a team with a much better chance of gaining a title.
Some things for you to think about:
What will you write if Anthony doesn't completely buy into the theoretical unselfishness of the Triangle and we don't even make it to the EC finals during his contract?
What will you write if the Knicks are only OK, and Anthony leaves after 4 years to play for less with Durant on OKC of James on the Cavs?
What will you write if we reach the EC finals in year 4 and he opts out with the intention asking for a 2yr/$65M contract, benefitting from the new cap numbers?
Will you have a different view of what he's been saying and the contract?
Just wondering.
