Cleve got this done because they didn't trade the pick that ended up to be Wiggins. They could have made a trade last year when they thought they had enough talent to crack the playoffs but instead stayed youthier.
My take is they kept the door open for a chance at Lebron and it all fell into place. Sure its luck but they prepared for the opportunity by not doing anything short term.
Wiggins could be the next Kobe in a few years and Bennett might still live up to his potential now healthy. Dude has issues.

yea... like 7% forward thinking and 97% luck. They were never trading this year's pick as everyone knew it was a great draft, so pa-leeze. The *only* reason Lebron goes there is the physical location of the franchise. Giving them an ounce of credit for doing anything with the roster to get him there is just silly. Its like thinking you did better at Christmas then your little brother because your spot under the tree was closer to the fireplace where Santa comes down for delivery.

Wow, they really need verajo to stay healthy and never come out the game. I wonder what their defense will be like. They will probably have a top 3 offense so it might be okay.

The Nuggets have depth. They also are not going to be making it out of the first round anytime soon. With the way the West is, they might not even make the playoffs for the foreseeable future. Depth has a role to play in a team's success but I'd say that the quality of talent in your starting 5 is more essential. You notice how real title contenders all have at least 2 stars capable of carrying a team?
"Trading for love" sounds like the name of a cheesy 80's gameshow.

True, but stars require role players, and when your thin on proper role players, your no better then a team with one star.
You saw it with miami, wade gets hurt, and he's half of the player he once was, and since they don't have legit depth, there just contenders, with a slim chance at winning it all.
thats why I like what phil is doing, he's putting together solid role players, youth, and depth, then try and grab another legit star nect season, as oppose to trading all your depth, for 2 more stars, and be assed out if one gets hurt

You're lying to yourself if you think "forward thinking" played a larger role in Cleveland's resurgence than luck. They were able to trade for Love by sending off the last two #1 overall picks that they won in the lottery. Love doesn't even agree to re-sign in Cleveland if they hadn't just signed LeBron, who agreed to sign because it's his home. Cleveland's lucky that it had the forward thinking to take down Dan Gilbert's infamous letter literally a week before LeBron returns...

I don't know- I think the key piece is Irving. He was great a couple of seasons ago and awful last season. Can he get back on track? Can he had Waiters burry the hatchet. I'm not sure that team fits together that well and I'm a bit unsure about chemistry. We'll see! I'm curious to finally find out if K Love was just putting up empty stats or not!

Haha. This is exactly what people are killing Melo about and we gave up much less for Melo. Melo is better than Love so in hindsight the Melo deal looks even better now. Seriously, Bosh gets 118, Love gets 120 and Melo is at 124. Seems to me like like all superstars take the money thats coming to them. This BS about selectively calling Melo selfish is being exposed as BS.
