As a side, I don't know Ray Rice and doubt I'd like him if I met him in real life BUT if this chick still married him, are we entitled to judge him?Yes we can still judge his actions- it happens a lot with domestic violence (or any kind of abuse)- the abused sticks with the abuser. That doesn't give the abuser a green light or excuse their actions in any way or make the victim responsible.
That holds true regardless of gender?
Yes- I work with victims of abuse of both genders, and domestic violence against men is just as unacceptable (but is unfortunately under reported and not taken as seriously by people- that needs to change).
I was just wondering because I hate how people pretend that only women are victims of domestic violence. And that's not to say that women still don't have a tough go of things. The reality is that there are so many more inherent benefits in being a man that I'd never want to walk in their shoes. I just hate how issues that men have are never taken seriously, particularly in the context of domestic life.
But we contribute to that by reinforcing this BS culture where we're suppose to be 'strong silent' types who don't talk about anything bothering us to other men- it kind of creates a situation where men don't speak out about things for fear of ridicule.
Touche. I agree that the way we behave is part of our problem as men. We've taken accountability to an extreme but the problem with women is that the exact opposite is becoming acceptable for women, in a social context.

Ray Rice should be punished very strong but I can't see destroying his life and making him work at burger king for life. There is a saying men are brutes and women are mouth. Thats the way it is. You just can't get upset and start beating on your girlfriend or spouse. Ray and his wife should go to counseling for help.Ray Rice will have this stigma on him for the rest of his life.Even if he comes back to the NFL he will never get endorsements again. People will taunt him for the rest of his life no matter what he does. Ray Rice will be the poster boy to hate. He needs to pray and ask God for forgiveness and if God forgive him then thats what really counts.God doesn't give a shit about domestic violence.
Papabear Says
God cares about everything. God is a forgiving God. I repeat what Ray Rice did will follow him for the rest of his life. He probably should go to jail. But there must be a time for forgiveness in time and if there is no forgiveness then why did Jesus die on the cross?

Pagan Emperor Constantine in the 4th Century commissioned and paid for the Council of Nicaea that was tasked to find 1 canon of books that would be considered the word of God and universally accepted by all Christians. That is how the Bible came to be. There were many books that were older than those chosen that actually paint a very different picture of God and early stories like Adam & Eve. The common theme when you look up what books were omitted is that they promoted a more balanced lifestyle between men & women. The books ultimately chosen were those that fit the mold of a new male dominated culture. Remember before this the pagans worshiped the female form.
It would be a good time to buy low
If Vick was given another chance, I think Rice will get one after he pays for his actions
I would have preffered him to donate his entire year of salary, attend counsiling, and make some awareness apperances, rather than the punishment he got
I would be thrilled to have him on the Giants

Vick went to jail and stepped out of the public eye long enough to distance himself a bit from his crime. Rice is still fresh on everyone's memory, new details still being leaked. If anyone signs him this season, they're in for a PR circus.

I have to admit, I knew nothing about all of that. Thanks for the info.
My skepticism of Christianity came from the obvious plagiarisms from older religions. The character of Jesus is almost a wholesale knockoff of the Egyptian God, Horus who was born to a virgin mother and divine father, was baptized by a being that later was decapitated (Anup vs John the Baptist), was tempted in the desert as a younger being and was resurrected. The rest of Jesus' life was hodgepodge work from other religions, particularly Hinduism who had a God that was a carpenter and born on December 25th. Then on top of that, there is the obvious fiction in the book like Noah's Ark, Jonah being swallowed by a whale, etc. and the general immorality of the Old Testament, okaying the killing of children, endorsing rape, slavery, etc.
At this point, I don't know how it isn't recognized as a tool for social control by the wealthy of yore/present. Hell, they won 3 continents (Africa, North America and South America) with it.

Jesus the plagiarist!
That's one of the sad things- all these people using various religions to justify their violence, when they all pretty much are basing it on the same stuff!

...it's almost comical to me at this point. The crazy thing is that they can still worship the same God, as part of the same religion but are still willing to kill each other because of minor differences (e.g. Sunni vs Shitte; Protestant vs Catholic).

"He used the same kind of discipline with his child that he experienced as a child growing up in East Texas. Adrian has never hidden from what happened."
"He has cooperated fully with authorities and voluntarily testified before the grand jury for several hours."
"Adrian will address the charges with the same respect and responsiveness he has brought to this inquiry from its beginning. It is important to remember that Adrian never intended to harm his son and deeply regrets the unintentional injury."
3:00 PM PT -- The police report on the case includes photos of cuts on the boy's thigh and hands. He also had bruises on his lower back and buttocks, and according to the report ... Peterson admitted punishing him.

Peterson missed Vikings team practice yesterday -- though the team explained it as a "veteran's day." Peterson did attend practice today and was said to be laughing and joking on the field.
Earlier today, Peterson posted a message on Twitter -- though it's unclear if it's related to the case. "People understand that if you are on God's course and suppose to have that position and man decides to remove you know that God will remove everyone to place you rightfully! You matter!"
"Its your season! Weapons may form but won’t prosper! God has you covered don’t stress or worry!"

One would hope there is a higher standard for conduct with an adult female than a 4 year old child.
But this is just getting ridiculous

He beat a little kid with a branch until they bled- the other guy beat his girlfriend unconscious and dragged her out of a lift- if players get suspended for untying shoe laces and smoking weed, then proportionally these two cases are way way worse.
