Sure, by guys like Charles Barkley or Jason Whitlock or Stephen A Smith. If you think FOX, ESPN, TNT , Grantland, ABC, CBS, NBC, The Sporting News, Sports Illustrated, etc all don't factor in the public perception of potential racial backlash, I don't know what to say.
You think NFL executives don't think five or six times about how they are going to answer a question about openly gay player Michael Sam?
Or how to answer questions about Adrian Peterson and his kids? Ray Rice and his gf/wife?
Perceptions about how professional sports deals with scandal, race, women, gays, that is all a giant PR powderkeg waiting to blow up in someone's face.
If you don't think so, then that's your opinion, and you have a right to it. My opinion on it is different.
I find it odd that you think people in the media taking a few moments to consider other people and the impact that their words might have, is a bad thing. If you're not intending to insult or offend a community, why not take some time to figure out exactly what you are trying to say and who your target is? It's basic consideration.

A big no to McGee! I used to think his stats and highlights looked good, then I actually watched him play. I've never witnessed a player have such a detrimental impact to a game and his team- it was amazing!
Besides which, I read somewhere that his leg isn't healing on schedule and he might not be ready for preseason- thats a worry.

Most of you want pre-2014-14 Tyson. High IQ defensive player. One bad stretch and we want him exiled. But a player that has yet to demonstrate this ability, DPOY or been part of a championship and we think we can rehab him.
Does the triangle necessitate having a high bball IQ? Or the redundant practice skill to turn a system into an instinct?
McGee in DC was not in the right environment and Denver under Karl in for his COTY and extension was not conducive to his developement. Last year I thought under Shaw he was hurt. I would imagine while his trade value might not be that expensive Denver might still want to see if they can tap his potential somewhat and get a return on that investment.
If we want him a knick you wanted him in Newburg August 1st working the "system". I don't know if Shaw is going full triangle these days so we can see if he actually picks it up. I think his upside is 10-10 with 2 blocks in 23-32 min a game. Still can be a piece of a championship team but:
Whats his health? Whats Denvers perspective on importance? Whats Phish perspective?
