Right now, Hardaway is a nice scorer but he struggles at *everything* else. It's nice to have him. I don't have a problem with him. He strikes me as having an adequate chance of becoming a very good player. But this thread strikes me as giving a deprived kid a gumball or something else that's nice but ordinary and seeing the kid think it's truly wonderful.

I think it's premature to take such a blasé attitude about our PROSPECTS. These young players are at the beginning of their pro development. It's a completely new system on both ends which is causing players to think right now rather than react naturally. It's gonna take more practice and time to allow this new stuff to become intuitive and their reactions to be faster. After that they can use more of their natural talent.

So jhardaway has the potential of a mirror of melo's NBA career?

I think in the right situation Tim Hardaway JR has the potential to be a 21-25pt avg SG in this league--kind of like a young Ray Allen. I think he can be that good. Hes got an incredible 3 pt shot and he has the athletic ability to play both in the mid range and to the basket game. He's about the same size as Ray---I thin k hes a youn g Ray Allen in the making. Melo is a different player as he can get 30-31 and plays closer to the basket--much better rebounder different body type.

Watching him last night I was thinking his shot was amazing and he doesn't miss free throws. I like the Ray Allen comparison. Hardaway looked like a vet.

Ray Allen could not only carry an offense, he could run it as well. If I recall correctly, the bulk of the minutes he played for the Sonics was as their orchestrator. Hardaway can and likely never will be able to do those things on the level Ray Allen did. Because of that, I think a more appropriate comparison would be Kevin Martin during his Kings' days. They both could shoot the hell out of the ball, which is a skill I'll look forward to with Hardaway.
Fisher said he likes Larkin with the young, fast second unit featuring Tim Hardaway Jr. and rookie forward Cleanthony Early.“That’s the thing we have this year,’’ Larkin said. “[Cleanthony] has young legs, Tim has young legs. When I’m in there with those guys, I’ll push the ball, and it’s going to make them run.”
The article talks about not running the triangle when Larkin is pushing the ball. Good to mix things up once in a while. Can't overdo it with Stat and his knees, but having him with these young guns in the lineup could bring out the best in Amare's game. Lots of transition buckets like the old days.

I agree, He is basically a Danny Green level player at the moment. Until he starts to create for others.
