They're clearly hung over from just winning a title still.

Can you imagine the flip-flopping
That would exist on this board if we won the Lottery
Adding Okafor, Towns,or Mudiay would be amazing to pair up with Melo and cap space.

Seriously I wouldnt care. Either be really really bad or a playoff team

Doesn't matter that Woodson is no longer there. Ever go to the Garden and watch a Ranger game? We still chant "Potvin Sucks" and that guy retired twenty-eight years ago! Like "Potvin sucks," "Fire Woodson" will forever be a part of the Garden. "Fire Woodson" will always be a part of Knick fans.

The guy was 109-79, and accomplished things that hadn't been done in almost twenty years. Last year sucked. But if I am making a list of guys names to chant 'Fire' to I have quite a few on the list ahead of Woodson.

Yes, Woodson did do things that hadn't been done. Like blaming Beno instead of JR for that three point shot with twenty seconds left.

Smith's deal was a package with JR signing. AT least that is what I believe. Woodson wanted a big. Woodson had to be a company guy last year and was the guy that represented the organization in the media despite Mills saying he would be more accessible. Agree that the Smith three situation was a big F up on Woodson's part. Not sure when Woodson totally gave up his dignity last year after Grunwald was fired but it was apparent in the situation you point out.
Package deal? Nah, Woodson bent over backwards for that Smith family. He always spoke lovingly and glowing about them...even the schmuck JR. I don't know exactly what strangeness was going on, but Woodson definitely wanted Chris signed. He even hinted at with a quote just a few days into last year's camp. Woodson made it clear that it was a done deal, Chris Smith was making that team. Chris Smith played a total of twenty minutes and scored all of seven points in the entire pre-season...yet still made the team. Woodson was behind that.
I used to like Woodson as a coach. Nothing special, but he was capable. I also thought he was a decent fellow. But the longer we got to see him, the more he got to show his lack of coaching ability and his less than stellar character as a man.

We totally disagree about Woodson. I think Grunfeld was fired over the Smith package and Bargs deal. Woodson had to tow the company line or cut bait.
Woodson is an inept head coach. The end

It was called "CAA loyalty", Woodson certainly Ok'ed each CAA acquisition from the re-signing of JR to his brother to Bargs.

The coach does not give players contracts. This is pretty basic.

Woodson wanted more playoff tested vets on the team. Basically re-up on the Kidd-Sheed-KT-Camby type of guys brought in the yr before. Dolan wanted the team to get younger, probably since he felt that those guys broke down at the end of the yr.
In typical Knicks fashion. Dolan makes decisions overriding what the coach &/or gm want. Then when those moves don't work out the coach &/or gm get fired. Granted the gm usually overpays in the deal.

I agree, but I still don't get how we won so many games under him- it still bothers me!

Of Woodson wanted more vets, but he also wanted guys who could suit up and contribute and none of those could.....matter of fact Sheed and Kurt wernt even on the team by the playoffs. Kidd was burnt or preparing his exit and Camby provided nothing on the court.
Woodson wanted JR re-signed, thats a fact. Woodson raved like a school girl over Bargs..he wanted him as well. Woody was determined to make Chris Smith an NBA player...even for a moment, at the expense of a roster spot. Keep in mind this dude was also signed the year before as well, and was only cut because he was hurt

So true.
And that is what angered me so much. What was the point of camp? Guys like Diago or C.J. Leslie never had a chance at all. The entire thing was pre-ordained. Just seven points in eight pre-season games for Chris Smith, poor performances, poor play...didn't matter. Chris Smith was making the team. And to think that was a GM call is ludicrous. The whole camp was just a sham. Woody's sham.
Fire Woodson!

Yeah, I was all for firing woodson, but he doesn't come close to being one of the worst, I don't even think he makes the top 10.

One of the reasons Glen was demoted, was the Jr package.

Did Woodson structure Chris's contract so that the entire deal became guaranteed if Chris was on the roster for one day of the regular season?
