we were outscored like 5 to 27 in fast break points against philly last night yet we forced just as many turnovers as they did. what that number tells me is the knicks are purposely killing fast breaks in order to set up the offense almost every time. this indicates there's more of an emphasis on running the offense properly right now then actually scoring points, that'll change once the season starts and will benefit us more long term then preseason scoring averages will because every player in the rotation is being given a chance to get a handle on the triangle right now. we're starting to see even the ones that are having a harder time with it start to show ome progress such as STAT in the game last night. once again no reason to panic.
panic is good...high expectations.
I did like what I saw last night with the insertion of Jason Smith and Acy (very very pleasantly suprised by this).
I'd like to see Acy in the mix somehow, at this stage, i've completely forgot that Bargs is on the team.
They keep winning with Acy is going to be hard to complain about the lack of scoring. Once the season begins and the team continues to improve and the chemistry improves they should be just fine offensively

Not sure I understand the concern. The scoring should increase as we play our core rotation players normal minutes. So far Fish has been doing a lot of experimenting and that should go away by the time we get to the regular season.
Definitely. I'm just confused and frustrated with the fan base right now. We are on the right track and everything is going fine but guys still want to go backwards. We need more scoring? The offense creates opportunities. Like you said once the regular rotation kicks in people are going to be amazed.
Everyone complaining really needs to sit back and enjoy. The Knicks have never played the game like this since I been watching. Just enjoy. We are building something great

You are right. Even when we were winning it was a lot of dumping the ball to Ewing but those teams played great defense and Ewing is a hall of famer. I'm really excited about this new brand of team basketball. More reminiscent of the bulls, lakers and the 70 knicks
I was skeptical at first because I thought Dolan would sabotage Phil, but I've bought in.
I actually think Phil was amazingly candid about Dolan the other day saying he was thrust into the family business when he really wants to play the honky tonks.
If anyone but Phil had said that Dolan's PR Nazis would have gouged Phil's eyes out, but I think Phil's balls are bigger than Dolan's and Jimmy is totally relieved to hand over the reins.
So I'm more optimistic now than ever. This is a marathon. This year is just a phase, but I'll still enjoy it as part of the process now.
If the team can hold opponents to low numbers, I can live with the low scoring. But the offense should increase some with the core playing the majority of minutes. I will admit the defense appears to be ahead of the offense, which isnt bad for right now.
My only concern is whether the defense is actually good enough against opponents who are playing their normal cores as well.

The team culture will determine our defensive ability to a large extent, because that is what squeezes effort out of players formerly considered degenerates on D.
But we lack a crazy man down low like Noah or a Rodman, somebody whose hands get into the middle of every loose ball, who reads the lanes and steps in at the right time and takes charges and generally creates havoc.
We may not have someone of that caliber, but that makes an opportunity for somebody on the team to show leadership on D. Shump is good, but we need a big who is almost psycho in their defensive intensity and who fights for every board on both ends. Acy could inherit that role, but I don't see anyone else on this squad who fits that bill.
They drafted the Greek fella for that kind of stuff, so lets see how he works out in Westchester. I expect Phil to bring in a Rodman, Noah type who can play the triangle and passes well. Either that or he buys into paying Marc Gasol the big bucks, but he's not exactly a pogo stick.
