he's got to show that he can do more than shoot in order to get those minutes
Hardaway looks good when he makes his poor selection of shots but when he misses he looks like JR Smith
He is a gunner and it is a bad habit to break
It has a chain reaction with the team when players do that
Every couple of possessions, players like JR Smith, CA, Tim Hardaway JR, then Iman Shumpert, and whoever will feel the need to break out of the team basketball philosophy and just hoist one up
When they miss, it turns in to a fast break where we cannot defend and find ourselves digging out of a hole
It isn't important on what numbers he gets, it is about how he gets them
If it is in the flow of the offense and he is left wide open when the ball is moving and he gets his feet squared, I am all for it
JR Smith and CA has the same problem, a little too confident in there abilities at the cost of our teams chemistry
You take out the one stinker in Toronto and look at the other 5 games
First off sans the Toronto game this is his avg
20.9 min 14.8 2.1 reb 2.8 ass 55% FG efg 65%
on a 40 min pace adjusted
28.7 3.9 5.3
There is no doubt that Tim should be playing 38 minutes.
the competition at that spot is tough and he needs to earn those minutes. If he cant beat out JR and Shump I dont care what his #s are.
One interesting thing was Phil said he was actually 6'8 and could play some 3 as well. Maybe he grew but the predraft measurements have him at the listed 6'6 but there is some Glen Rice in his game for sure. Curious to see if he plays the 3 in small 3 guard sets
I think he will play some 3 Til they get rid of JR definitely. Even if he's only 6'6. If the opposing SF is not an offensive threat THJ should be able to flourish

THJR has been the most consistent
2 guard in the triangle during preseason
Not sure if that's a end all reason to start
Him but I would based on potential uptick of improvement
I would also like someone else start
At the 2 besides Shumpert to see
If there is a discernible difference who starts here

It'll be a while if ever before Smith is traded
So what would be your plans for Clean
Since you have built in protection for Shumpert
if THJ is getting 38 minutes then that would either mean that we are screwed or THJ transforms his game overnight.
My guess THjr 26-8-4 49-53% for who ever he is guarding.

thats funny
I find it funny that some fans
Think it's not okay for some players to be bad
At one thing while not for others
We have zero two-way players on our team
Like it's okay for Calderon and Dalembert
To start although one is a nightmare on offense
And the other a near nightmare on defense
I've seen these 3 guys show up in fans starting lineups
Amar'e[laughable] Acy[laughable] Shumpert[laughable]
2 of the above primarily cold offensive players
The other extremely selfish and doesn't play a lick of D
Just say you want guys to start or get heavy minutes
Because you are huge fans of their games and leave at that
You can't have Calderon and THJ on the floor. It's one of the other. Calderon is more valuable as the PG and captain of the ship
38 mins is too much for THJr....the only guy that needs to be out there for 38 mins is Melo.
Everyone else is gonna have to live with hovering between 25-35 minutes a game....maybe even 20-30 for some. That's it though. That how we living until we make that Kobe trade lol

Also, calling Dalembert a nightmare on offense is truly silly. He is a serviceable offensive player that is efficient at a low usg. A nightmare on offense is Bargnani( Yes, Nix I know I know
).

Probably too much for him, remember he gets tired
In particular the back half of games

Don't get me wrong -- I LOVE him as a player (check the records, I was one of the only to love his draft selection) -- just think he needs to bring a little bit more to the table to EARN starting

Who on this team has EARNED their spot
Melo
Calderon
Dalembert
That's about it, fair to say right
So why is THJR under a more rigid microscope of critique

this team is going nowhere this season. why would you want to just toss the keys to the kingdom to THJ? makes absolutely no sense. get him to strive for excellence and turn it over to him once he starts playing defense, etc

Well he's the superstar so he would be coasting for most of that time like Jordan and Kobe used to do. The offense is gonna allow him to be able to do that. He can take over in spurts. Mofo is going to be guarded one on one which is basically wide open for him
