The Toronto Raptors expect to lose guard DeMar DeRozan for about a month after he tore a tendon in his groin, a league source told Yahoo Sports.

The Raptors will have a more definitive timeline for DeRozan's recovery period after DeRozan is re-examined in a week.

Sounds like a month is pretty optimistic. DeRozan was having a great season.

he wasn't having a great shooting season but his presence will be missed. we have depth so we can maintain until he gets back.

Lowry and Ross were TURNT UP yesterday

Good to see the Raps proving they aren't a fluke

dude, they peaked already.

lol okay whatever you say

There's a lot of that going around

I wonder if Calderon will equal Jrue Holiday for the rest of the season

(I robbed cooch recently I traded Holiday, Millsap & Lebron & I gor Anthony Davis, Calderon & Nick Batum from Portland.
I think he done fucked up!

CrushAlot @ 12/4/2014 4:52 PM
F Dwight Powell, G Marcus Smart and G/F James Young have been assigned to the Maine Red Claws for tonight's game in Portland, ME
I thought teams could only send two guys down.

I love Kyrie on the offensive end, he's fun to watch.
NardDogNation @ 12/5/2014 12:20 AM
Anyone else get a little blue thinking that we were just one higher draft pick and one (reasonable) David Lee trade away from having Steph Curry and Klay Thompson as our backcourt?
NumberTwoPencil @ 12/5/2014 1:44 AM
. . . Curry & Thompson backcourt . . .

Couple problems with that. Thompson was drafted two years after Curry. Also, I can't imagine the Knicks sticking with either of those guys for long. Curry was pretty good his rookie year but he was still learning PG (can you imagine him learning how to be a PG in NY?) and those ankle injuries were a serious concern.

In short, the Knicks might have been able to trade up on draft night to get Curry but I suspect it would have been downhill from there.

NumberTwoPencil @ 12/5/2014 1:49 AM
That said . . . yeah, I get a little blue wishing Thompson and Curry were our backcourt. GS totally dominated, seemingly without breaking a sweat, against NO this evening. GS isn't just Curry and Thompson . . . I also wish Bogut, Greene, and even Barnes were Knicks. Even GSs bench looks better than the Knicks. Livingston, Iguodala, Barbosa, even Ezeli look pretty good at times. Even David Lee . . .
Splat @ 12/5/2014 2:25 AM
If GS remains healthy, they will win a ring this year.

The coaching thing only makes it a little bit weird.

Sadly, I think it's an issue a lot of fans here on this site refuse to accept ( esp when they conjure up hypothetical trade situations that will never happen/make no sense for the Non Knicks team) That most team's benches would start for the Knicks today and that the Knicks likely have the least talented 15 man roster in the league right now.

You can't trade players where most of them wouldn't even make another team's 15 man roster.

The Warriors ENTIRE 2nd unit would be starters on the Knicks right now ( save Melo's spot on the team)

Even the Rockets, who absolutely gutted their bench this offseason, their 2nd unit, most would be starting for the Knicks this year.

The rockets do a great job with their dleague team. Hopefully the knicks are following that model now.

So we couldn't have traded David Lee in a sign and trade deal in 2010 for an unprotected 1st in 2011 from the Warriors (i.e. Klay Thompson)? He had established himself as a perennial 20-10 big man and all-star by that point, so I definitely think it was feasible had we not had old man running the show.
As for Curry, all we should've done that season was tank. We had the same record as the Warriors that season but had the tie breaker with them, which gave them more ping pong balls and a pick that was one slot higher than us. Had we dumped Nate Robinson and Jared Jefferies to Sacramento, we would've been bad enough for that to have happened. Whatsmore is that we never would've had to trade future picks in that horrible McGrady deal.

But you're right, we probably would have not been patient enough to develop them. I probably been one of the first guys advocating to sell Curry high when those ankle injuries happened.

David Lee was gonna sign with GS and had all the leverage I highly doubt they would've given up an unprotected first in a sign and trade.

somewhat shocking but look at this:

raptors have the best offense in the past 35 years so far...

The Raps are a good team and surely underrated. However, lets look at their Ortg after 82 games. Not sure they are on par with the Showtime Lakers or Jordan era Bulls.

djsunyc @ 12/5/2014 3:23 PM
lol - of course not. goal is atlantic division, maybe 50 wins and playoff advancement. but this early success was unexpected by everyone.

...if that were the case, why was a sign and trade needed? He was an unrestricted free agent; he could have gone their without our help.

lee got 6 years instead of 5 if he had gone outright, and the knicks got a couple of bodies/pick
