No, no GM has the power to take on the financial repsonsiblity without the owners approval on every deal.
King, Like many gm's don't get fired because their owners are pushing the agenda. I'd even say King presented the Russian with each deal and had to give him the pro's and con's!!!!!
No way I blame this on King!!! Thorn was excellent and left a bunch of assets because that a better way to sell the team!
Remember that team had assets but they were awful. It give them great flexibility and low tax threshold!
