Fair enough. Acy is listed as an SF on sites but is the PF. Melo is rebounding like a PG right now though. It's too soon make much out of any of these numbers anywayHe is not missing enough shots for him to get his own rebounds.
LOL! Seriously though he averaged 6.2 defensive rpg last year and but has taken 3 games to get 6 defensive rebounds this year. I did mention last year I was skeptical about the rebounding improvement because it was a contract year.
The knicks seem to be doing well with defensive (team) rebounding. So times the rebounds just go to the alpha male / teammate.
If his man is getting offensive rebounds because he is not boxing out, I would be more alarmed.
Lets see how this plays out.
He will also have fewer rebounds do to fewer mp's.

A 3 shouldn't rebound like a PG though. He's not always 30 feet from the basket.
You know it's OK to actually express a criticism of Melo? It's not outrageous to say 2 rebounds a game is bad for a forward.

Melo lovers are pretty good adjusting on the fly
There's always been talk of moving the goal post with them
The problem is they try and move the goal posts inside the 20's
With an auto crank on cross bar and posts to adjust for any given situation

He lost weight to be quicker and play the 3. Last year he played the 4 and averaged 8 boards a game. When he signed his new deal at least one poster kept bringing up Melo's 'troublesome shoulders'. Are we looking for a fresh Melo at the end of games that moves the ball more and is more efficient in his shot selection or do we want a ball dominant guy that plays in the post and is worn down at the end of games? Not sure if anyone noticed but Fisher likes a traditional line up as opposed to small ball.

Crush you're being logical and making sense. That's just not going to be acceptable to some around here. these very same people figured we'd be 0-3 right now and looking like a group of bums on the way to giving up on the Triangle. So why should we expect reason regarding Melo? Forget that Melo has been there strong at the end of the last 2 wins, which this team desperately needs. This is a LOOOOOOONG season and we need Melo to be healthy and strong at the end of the year.

I don't disagree with anything Crush said and have no problem crediting Melo for shooting and passing pretty well. I think everyone in this thread already did. It has nothing to do with rebounding like a PG though.
That's what happens when you add guys like Acy, Dalembert, jason & Cole to the team. They rebound. Shump is also very good at grabbing rebounds.
Now play Melo and amare up from at PF/C like last year and they will average More rebounds but we will be outrebounded every night. Which was the case last year
I like what I've seen from Melo so far. He is still forcing and missing open cutters at times. I'm confident fisher will fix him. He called a quick timeout after Melo forced and missed the wide open cutter. I'm pretty sure that's what the timeout was about
Enjoy

We have 108 rebounds and our opponents have 118.

108 is a very auspicious number with great cosmological powers. I'll take it.

Second the +1.
It's amazing how hate will spend time contradicting itself. When Melo's averaging near 8 rpg, we get the fact that the majority of them are on his own missed chuck shots. Now that he's making more shots, we get "he's rebounding like a PG." Next up, why Melo's steals per game being down is a detriment to mankind's ability to enjoy the purity of the game.
2-1. Very painful numbers for some, obviously. If this winning continues, things are going to get ugly as the reasons to hate start to dry up.
Oh well, at least Melo isn't making anyone any better...is he?
Nalod, cue that Homergasm pic from the 54 win seaason...

I'd have to look but that is probably factoring in the Bulls game where we got manhandled. I'm referring to the last 2games where they figured things out

We got outrebounded in 1 of the 2 wins also but both were close. We didn't excel in rebounding in any of the games.
