On the plus side, the Hawks played last night and it went into 2OT, so hopefully they'll play more lethargically than us!
No these are the people who picked is to win at least 40 games. I had them at 44-44 wins
But I give you an A for effort
Yikes- I had no idea you were so optimistic going into this season
We might still end up with an okay record, but the first 20-30 games were always going to be bumpy- learning a new system, tough early schedule, injuries- plus the fact that even at full strength we're not a good team. Likely we make some trades before the deadline, so the team we end the season with, won't be the one we have now. If we stink we have a draft pick, if we make the playoffs it means we've had a more enjoyable season to watch. When you felt we'd win 44 games, honestly what did you think our record was going to be after 6 games? Did you look at JR Smith, Melo and Amar'e, and think "wow! Those guys are quick learners and are going to pick up the triangle and denounce the way they've played their whole careers by the time preseason is over!"

That's my contribution to this thread. Forget all the other crap I said
I've actually written more earlier on in the thread, but sure, take your frustrations with the team out on me.
Who cares about the record after only 6 games. I don't expect that Melo would abort the triangle and go into Melo Dantoni anti SSOL mode this early
It kinda sucks that we paid him $124mil and are relying on a veteran like calderon to fix things.
It's like relying on on 40yr old Rasheed and kidd all over again

It's MSG's new reality show "Babysitting With The Stars"

Melo was going to slip into old habits at some point (granted I thought it would be a lot later), the key is what does Fish do about it when he does. Interestingly, Kobe used to do likewise:
Afterward, Jackson clashed frequently with Bryant. While remarkably efficient in Jackson's "triangle offense", Bryant had a personal distaste for Jackson's brand of basketball and subsequently called it "boring." In games, Bryant would often disregard the set offense completely to experiment with his own one-on-one moves, incensing the normally calm Jackson. Bryant managed to test Jackson's patience enough that the "Zen Master" even demanded that Bryant be traded, although Laker management rejected the request.
Kobe has always gone back and forth between basketball god and selfish chucker. I don't think Melo will ever get to be purely selfless all the time, but if we can re-adjust his balance a bit and accept there will be games when he goes into chuck mode but try to limit them, then hopefully we can take a step forward. Not sure whats going on with him these last 3 games but he is playing like complete and utter crap, and it's annoying to watch. He has always been at his worst when slumping, because he goes into the mindset whereby him shooting himself out of the slump is more important than the rest of the team.

agreed
Deron Williams 10-15 29 pts....Shump was atrocious on defense but as usual, most posters only want to talk about the offensive end of the floor..
The myth of Melo being a Superstar is
Rivaled by Shump's myth of being a lockdown defender
You said you didn't catch last night's game
Well I did and let me tell you Shump's D was an absolute abomination
But like you said you have fans making excuses////// begging off he had no help
Some of these same posters who made fun of Deron being damaged goods
The jokes have been coming for a while now, Deron jelly ankles, spaghetti cankles
Deron looked like a ferrari going zero to a hundred real quick past Tree Shump
nyk4ever wrote:why are people talking about melo? people should be more concerned with the horrible defensive showing as a whole, not melo missing shots.
Are you smokin the crack inside of Crack Baby
You can't be serious, get real
Melo is 18-64fg last 3gms, many of those missed shots
Are kick starting the offense for the opponent
You do understand the Triangle Offense design is to balance
The team for defensive transition if shots come from the proper place
And more importantly are made, Our defense is shotty because we have
3 Players on this team who don't run the system consistently
Main culprit is our defiant hamhock
Forcing the coach to go with lineups out of despair
Lineups that don't necessarily equate to best defensive cohesion
It starts with our obese gingerbread man running the system correctly
And producing in it

But, no one will sign here if we're atrocious, which we are right now. We also lost our best chance to rebuild when we traded Tyson for Dalembert, Calderon, and a 2nd and refused to deal with Chicago. We possibly could have gotten 4 1st round picks in last year's loaded draft from OKC and Chicago if we had played our cards right and instead we attempted to improve the team this year. Sure, Calderon is hurt but as much as I like him he isn't single-handedly turning around this team. (And don't talk to me about Bargnani.)
Tyson probably brought us our best value mid-season last year. Clubs were knocking on the door with deals. I think most fans thought it was a bad idea, but most fans are slow to come to grips with asset management time frames. By the time most fans are coming to grips with the urgency of a situation, the opportunity has already passed. Tyson's value to be dealt was highest then. Not pulling the trigger then was a mistake. This team could have also had Lowry plus extra picks and additional quality rookie talent THIS YEAR.
Bingo which is why I never understood
The pitter pats on the deal Phil made with the Mavs
I was like we had deals on the table for Tyson for
Like 2yrs, some of which I'm sure yielded better fruitage
But of course with our fans base we hate trading assets
Especially when we're sitting in 9-12th place in the division
With 30-40% of the season already on the books
Double digit games behind 1st place, because weeez reasons 2 ways
Either the asset we're trading away is the piece that can get us the glorious 8th seed
Or reports don't state we're getting back 4 unprotected lotto picks
For the likes of THJR or Shump<--------lol
It's absurdity to the fullest, Tyson for one never should have never been signed by us
But after his DPOY season followed by Hibbert domination
The time to trade him was sooner than later
obese gingerbread man? Oh my, the buzzards are circling you now. Put on your deet, the skeeters are gonna get you

I doubt THJ or jr would've done a better job on Dwill with that gameplan
Larkin would've faired better but we were depleted at pg
If we were 4-2 the board would be in an uproar of positivity. The knee jerk reactions are just mind boggling. I guess we do it for something to talk about ?
Also Shumpert owned up to his poor defensive play. When we the last time another Knick did the same?

Been hearing this since the moment Melo arrived. I could careless about the record. This is about Melo aborting the triangle after 6 games.
If you want to tell me calderon is the savior than fine. We will find out
As much as I despise everything Melo you didn't hear a peep out of me when he played the right way in the 2 wins

Guns when are you ever gonna realize it isn't even about
If Sump is truly the best we have
It's about Shump not being a SOLUTION
So what your opinion of those who play behind him are worse
What we do know Shump has been given complete freedom
To be THAT GUY and he hasn't proven it 4yrs and counting
Unacceptable on every level for Shump to let
Deron get off like that yesterday but of course
We won a championship in preseason when Shump locked up Derozan
At least you'd thought we did after all the hoopla reactions
gunsnewing wrote:As much as I despise everything Melo you didn't hear a peep out of me when he played the right way in the 2 wins
We all complimented him on playing crisply and efficiently, but haters gonna hate
I just don't think it's fair say Shumpert is not a good defender based on one game where he was forced to guard the point. But hey if that's how you feel then that's fine
Knee jerk reaction? You guys are part of the reason why the Knicks have scked for almost 15years. You accept mediocrity you accept poor ownership and management shitty basketball all while lining the pockets of our midget owner. We've had one good streak in 15 years. We've basically had only 1leader j Kidd and it showed.everyone else was an over compensated starphuch precipitated by little napoleons obnoxious short sighted view point he's a fcking idiot and anyone who thinks this pos team will amount to anything but a34win team hoping that we can get an 8th seed. All the power to u you're all digital investors be good!
Look, the Knicks are terrible...we knew this on July 1. Not much has changed since then. Even with bad offense any team should be able to show some damn heart to take a little pride in defending and rebounding the basketball. This team doesnt do either.
They also give up in games far too easily. Sure, the team could improve dramtically over the course of the season, but that isnt likely.
