These two guys are going develop a special bond the further they move on into the season. Kobe rarely ever talks about any players in succession for so long and with such high praises but he has been constantly harping on and on about how special and great Jeremy Lin is. It's easy to say Kobe is selfish but all he wants is a player he can trust to pass the ball too and know that 8 of 10, that shots going in.
I predicted Lin would end up as a Lakers at some point in his career so I'm going to make another prediction. I will predict that Lin will sign a contract extension with the Lakers for 4 more years. That means Lin will mark year two and final year with Kobe.
Honestly I think Kobe just likes having a player with an international rep willing to put up with his bullshit. Lin is not really the confrontational type.
Haven't been following that closely but I know Lin was really struggling. Is this based on one game or are they putting something together there? What I have read is that Lin and Boozer had been disappointments.

People think that--but Lin is still one of the under rated players in the game when he is healthy. If he could stay consistent at a high level--he'd be one of the better PG's in the NBA. For some reason he goes two games like 22-7-4 / 19-8-5 then goes 1-7 with 2 assists and 6 TO's. He needs to get rid of those shitty games.

It seems like he has been having more of the later. Maybe new teammates are figuring things out. He certainly has an opportunity to be the #2 guy all year in la.

Untrue.
Kobe once had a player named Sun Yue on his squad. Sun Yue being one of the only Asian player in the league would have drawn international attention to the Lakers but he couldn't. Was Kobe praising Sun Yue in any ways, shape or form when they were playing together? Hell freaking no. Already, I've discredited your claims.
Lin isn't the confrontational type but he has proven he can give you 20+ points/7 assists a game. Those aren't scrub player numbers and Kobe knows it. Kobe wouldn't even mention Jeremy Lin's name in such glowing praises in any of his press conferences if Lin were a Sun Yue type player.
Kobe knows it.

You totally missed the mark actually. I meant Lin has an international rep in that he is known around the world, he's a big name. I didn't mean international like Kobe would give a shit if he was born in America or not. Why would that matter? My point was Kobe likes having someone with high name recognition in a subservient role to him, willing to take a backseat to his arrogance and assume the role of "pupil".

I'm sorry for misunderstanding you. You were absolutely right.
I guess shared suffering helps with the bonding

It looks like he's playing a little better now. 15 points, 7 assists per 36 with a .621 TS%. Granted his turnovers are high and his defensive win shares is still in the negative. I think he'll be OK with time. Nothing great but maybe a top 20 PG.

I know a team that could use a top 20 PG
It always seems to me that if a player has skills- and Lin most definitely does- and his skills fit into a "system, the key issue becomes how he meshes with his other teammates, and more significantly, with any star or dominant player on that team.
I don't think it is any surprise that the Linsanity stretch was done on a team with MDA, a coach who depended on the skills of his PGs, and that Carmelo was on the sidelines for much of the time he had his run (or am I mistaken on that).
You can't pair a regular (who is not a superstar)PG with a guy like Anthony, a ball dominant scorer, or a Harden, who is a guy that wants the ball all the time. You can see why he might not flourish with Kobe until they work things out together and he regains his confidence.
For better or worse, you are finally seeing Shumpert come out and assert himself on the court. A guy like Larkin will take years to really come into his own on a team where the first thought is to defer to a player like Anthony. There is a reason that guys like Larkin and Hardaway looked like different players in the SL, and it had nothing to do with the level of competition they played against, it had to do with who they played WITH.
Most of us have played pickup games or in leagues where you have a superior player who is deferred to (hell- some of you might have been that guy), and at some point you decrease your effort if it is not recognized, or the coach takes you out because you are not dumping the ball to your star.
Would have been nice if Lin had worked out in NY- I still think that he is looking for that perfect fit on a team. Maybe he and Kobe can establish something before Bryant leaves the game.
who gives a shit? goto the lakers and post this shit, lin is no longer a knick, get over it.
nyk4ever wrote:who gives a shit? goto the lakers and post this shit, lin is no longer a knick, get over it.

Are you kidding?

NY was alive! The whole world was fixated. Yeah ... that was something special.
Now we are back to JR flinging half court hook shots, Amare being Amare etc ...
great! Caldy is coming back!

Yeah I expect better and I have seen better. It was exciting but I have been a fan for a long time. It also was a blip on the schedule where the KNicks played the worst teams in the NBA other than the Lakers. If that is the highlight of my time rooting for the Knicks then I am moving on fast. I thought later that spring when the Knicks made the run to get into the playoffs was more exciting personally.
Lin gone. Shaddap clowns. No talk Lin. He not Knick no more. No care he fun here. Gone now. Shaddap

Lin's last 3 games were really good. He was attacking and finding people. He still has trouble with strong and agggressive defenders in that they trap him high but Kobe has figured it out in the last 2 games on how to help him. They do a lot of screening for each other.

When you devote your life to Christ....and really try to live a Godly life, everybody around you will start liking you. Especially if you are trying to change or mature. Also, Lin is not like Tebow. He doesn't through his religion in your face everyday. This is why Lin will never have any chemistry issues with other players, especially Kobe. On top of that, he has flashes of greatness. Mixed in with a few scrub games.
