Knicks · To see THJ struggle might be the most disappointing part of season. (page 2)

He is an offensive juggernaut, he needs to know where his minutes are going to be so he can set himself to be always in high alert. You can't go without a second of play in one half to starting the next half, particularly when the opposing team already has it rolling.

Fourmier is has an outside game BUT has the use of a dribble drive game--THJ and Early do not. They are both athletic spot up shooters with no middle game at a time when the middle game has become very important--we have not drafted very well over the last decade for guys who can control the dribble. The ONLY player we have drafted in the last ten years who can control the dribble is Shumpert and for the first 3 years he could not shoot it. The reason why we dont shoot FT's--we simply do not have players with dribble drive skills who can draw fouls nor do we have a starting player post game.

Were back to the same Dolanesgue team 100mm spent and we stink. The trade we couldve made that we didnt--Lowry---the guy can control the dribble but this guy makes every other trade that makes no sense. I think Phil Jackson has to think about moves the rest of the way--don't think about who can play the triangle--think about guys who have full skill sets--who than can adapt to a system. Guys like JR THJ even Carmelo--they dont handle the ball like Jordan Kobe or Pippen. The main guys who played for the Bulls and Lakers were great ball-handlers. We don't have that.

I think other than Melo because we are married and maybe Shump--that everyone else might be available for us to trade starting in Dec.

THJ struggles are attributed to Fisher. He can't find consistent minutes for the kid, because he is adamant about giving JR minutes. Play THJ 25 minutes consistently, he will produce.

how do you know this?

so you are saying that you don't know but in order to find out, he needs consistent minutes?

He has only proven at this point that his shot is extremely streaky regardless of minutes.

True, but he shows that he has what it takes to be a special player. He needs to be coached.

A huge reason why its been is a problem is we just haven't had enough quality 1st round picks. The Shumpert pick at 17 was the highest pick we've had. More than half the time we haven't even had our 1st round pick.

Just complete ineptitude from the Knicks organization. If only there was a blow it up button.

Well there was this past off-season but for whatever reason they are reluctant to pull the trigger. No matter who is in charge in the front office.

Its amazing that every team in New York professional sports has endured a period of success except our Knicks. Even the frickin Islanders!!!

so F'N embarrassing!!

Add Gallo to that list.

It will happen folks, be patient. Phil is brilliant, I am just not sure of Fisher as a competent coach thus far. I don't like his unengaging approach as a coach

how did he show this? He has not shown this at all.

Knicks1969 @ 11/13/2014 12:57 PM
In my opinion, he did. This organization has to learn to foster talent. Not every player will come out and rule the world like Lebron. Remember Ariza and David Lee? They were all drafted by the Knicks.
BRIGGS @ 11/13/2014 2:15 PM
Maybe they should move THJ to 6th man and just leave him alone and give him 30 minutes consistently???

looks like phish wants to win and perhaps playing THJ consistently they view as a tank move.

I am all for playing to see if he can cut it since I am hoping for a tank.

Why not trade him for a pick

If we're not going to properly develop him

And bring back this guy to fulfill your hopes and dreams

I told Nix there was no way Fish could successfully juggle

Playing all these guards and this is with an injury to Jose

The knicks are doing just enough with Hardaway to keep him attractive. Give him playing time every now and then to show how he can score in bunches but not enough to really show how bad he is defensively(okay everyone can see he sucks but NBA values young scoring).

I will say his drive game is better than people give him credit for but he doesn't rebound or defend or pass or know/realize that you do not have to attack 3 players on a 1 man fast break.

I can't believe how impatient Knicks fans are with young players, but so quick to offer big money to one way ponies like Amare and many others. Young players take at least 4 years and good coaching to develop. Woody and D'anthony were not good coaches to learn from. Settle down and see what can happen if we surround these young kids with good coaching, leadership, and playing time.

I was already disappointed with him last year when it was obvious that he does not rebound or defend (at all) and that at best he was a very streaky shooter.

Yup.

1 ast and 1 rebound, with no Free throws, and constantly ball watching and losing his man on the defensive end... he better put up 20 points in 20 minutes.

All bad habits he inherited from playing for a dumb coach like woody. Josh Smith is the same way; as well as many others who were thought under his tutelage.

Bull sht, I watched this guy a lot in college, he was streaky as ever ,2 good games, 1 bad game, 1 good game, dissapparing act the next 3..He has never ever been a remotely decent defender, passer, team defender. He has to be coached by a guy like thibs..or else his career will be 5 yrs

That I agree with. Guys like Thib or Popp or Hollins can get the best out of him. He has the potentials to be a very nice player.

babyKnicks wrote:Why and in what way?

The Anti Fish theories of why players struggle. "It's not the players but Fisher's lack of coaching ability" stuff. Never mind that in truth players are in fact improving steadily under Fish. This team needs more time to keep working on their weaknesses. Overall tho at 5-6 against a TOUGH schedule, this team has made good progress and will still make more. Fish believed in Lance Thomas but not THJ and so we got rid of THJ for Jerian and we kept LT. Seems to me that his judgment is pretty solid.
