Knicks · Jazz assign Murry to the d league (page 1)

er the Utah Jazz, the club has assigned point guard Toure' Murry to the Idaho Stampede, Utah's D-League affiliate. Murry will be joining a talented bunch in Idaho that just dropped 158 points -- no typo -- on the Reno Bighorns in a preseason victory. However, the addition should be welcomed, as Murry does have NBA experience to bring to the table.

The Jazz inked Murray to a two-year deal in August, after Murry really broke into the league last season with the New York Knicks. The 6'5" point guard had his best performance in his last game with the Knicks on April 16, scoring 15 points and dishing two assists. Murry appeared in a total of 51 games for New York, playing 373 minutes total. With Dante Exum and Trey Burke cemented at the point guard position, Utah is smart to get Murry minutes in the D-League. He'll have his chance to run a team and should excel doing so. Keep in mind that Murry's contract is two-years long, but he will only make a combined $1 million over that span -- quite a bargain for a 6'5" point guard with potential.

Toure' Murray is expected to be with the Stampede for the season opener against the Erie BayHawks on Friday Nov. 13.

It sounds like the Jazz have a really good team in Idaho and are doing things the right way.

No problem. Great d league sites are ridiculous upside and d league digest.

Murry is very likely better than Larkin.

You think so? I've seen enough of Larkin running a team to think he can be a good change of pace backup

Murray showed nothing in terms of running the team last year. Maybe will have a role as a defensive guard off the bench. 3rd stringer or playing overseas at best imo

Yup, I'd go with Larkin over Murray. Murray seems like he _might_ develop into an okay deep bench player. Larkin, from what I've seen, might work as second string PG and be able to step in as a starter in case of injury. I don't think Larkin will ever be a star but he looks like he might grow comfortable running a team and overall he seems like a smarter, more team-oriented, player.
