Knicks · Jimmy Butler (page 1)
A good senario for both teams would be a S&T of Shumpert for Butler. Chi can keep the cost down which they have liked to do in the past. We can get an upgrade.
Bring in Butler and David West(on a 2 yr rental) while drafting a big man.
Or clear out all the cap space we can(Calderon & Smith) and go for broke with Butler and Gasol & draft pick. Butler/Monroe draft pick as fall back option.

He is turning into one heckuva player. You know FA is actually quite good this year. We need to desperately get rid of Both Calderon and Smith. That way we can sign Shumpert and have the money for two max contracts.

Butler is healthy this year. Plus, he doesn't have to try carry the offense. He was put in an unfair position due to the injuries the team had.

I am all for shedding salary if this continues to spiral out of control. Not interested in wasting space with Shump. You can get equal production much cheaper. He will only become an asset to the Knicks or another team if he increases his awareness, which is extremely low right now.
On a side note, that dude has one hell of a body. Wish I could go on one of those workout routines and get cut like how he is. Unfortunately, none of the shit that's available on the internet gives me the results I want and I'm too cash strapped to do Mixed Martial Arts and Crossfit, which probably would.
Not sure if the bulls would match- they have a history of penny pinching and letting guys walk (usually they recover just fine). I see Rose is injured again (for the third time this season)- if that's the way Rose will be going forward, not sure how that would impact their decision on Butler.

....you think we should trade for Derrick Rose? lol...

Even so, last yr he still played 38 mins on a winning team and was a big part of there success. He is young and a big guard, rebounds, plays defense, can hit the 3, and improved his play making.

Imagine being able to come away with Jimmy Butler and Reggie Jackson.

+1 - I started throwing in the towel on him last year. This year no improvement either. His court awareness is insanely low. Very disappointing that Shump never expanded his game/skill set. Guess he was too busy financing his own bizarre rap videos to take interest.
His size, strength, is closer to a PF, but he has skills of a G, he knows how to fully utilize his size at SG with great timely cuts, especially because The Bulls have BIGS that could pass/facilitate/and post
His DEFENSE is very good but also must give credit to Thibs and the PF and Centers that The Bulls have, that we do not
It isn't even fair to compare Butler and Iman Shumpert, Butler's size/strength is closer to a PF, while Iman is closer to a combo guard
Butler has developed much the past couple of years due to the loss of Derrick Rose and the passing game of Noah and the system in Chicago
Is Butler better than Gordon Hayward who did get a max contract, I don't think so, not yet at least
He is very important to the Bull's team though
Butler played the most minutes in the league last year but shot under 40%, however, with Rose and Gasol added to the team, his FG % will likely go up by a lot in a contract year
However when players like Alec Burks gets over 10m per year, one can easily argue that Butler deserves much more
Both players have the great size/strength to play G/F and even PF on switches at times, especially vs some SF/PF's
Both have guard skills while I think Hayward is much better offensively than Butler
Look at all these players demanding MAX contracts, with the new CBA in 2017 coming, it might look like peanuts
However, there has to be a line drawn somewhere, while some players are good players, they are not worth MAX contracts or the contracts they are seeking, like Burks recently got

So Ron you're saying Jimmy Butler
Wouldn't be just as good playing next to Top 5 Melo?
Let's judge Butler on his merits
He's not a system player, he's a good all around player end of story
I'd take Butler over Hayward////// Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch, Dinner, Dessert
And snacks in between each one of them
For example, EVERYONE except a few (must give credit to TKF, thought Evan Fournier who was traded for Affalo and a late 2nd round pick was a completely horrible trade
Affalo was having his best year as an NBA pro while Fournier has produced about as well that Affalo had in Orlando last season
With Olindpo eventually coming back, who sits?
Elfrid Payton
Evan Fournier
Tobias Harris
Channing Frye
Nikola Vucevic
My guess is they will see again if Olindpo could play PG as Elfrid Payton continues to develop and work on his shooting ability as a rookie
Does Olindop come off the bench as a 6th man when he recovers?
Or does Orlando go small and go with a 3 guard lineup, with either Harris or Frye sitting?
Something must give...

We all have our own opinions, I do think Hayward is the better player, at least OFFENSIVELY
Butler is a very good defender and he uses his size to score at SG
I do think Butler is a system player, I don't think he is a max player though
It isn't like Hayward is not a good defender himself, I just bring him up because they both play the same positions, and both have great size, Butler seems to demand the same contract that Hayward got
However, Chicago is built to win now and Butler is a very important piece to the puzzle, unless Tony Snell Develops (his body looks about the same to me, I don't think he took the steps needed to work on his game and build his NBA body)
Snell came out of the same progam as Kawaii Leanard and his build is very close to Leanard who was MVP in last years finals
His body is very comparable, both at their own drafts, however, Leanard has greatly improved his skills and his NBA body
Maybe he had the luxury of working with Champions in Duncan, Parker, Ginobili, and Poppavich's staff, but he put in the work needed as well
Snell needs to work on his game the entire year, there are basically no breaks in the NBA
In the summers, he needs to work on his weakness's and strengths, and put in the time needed to have a NBA body
Without Butler, I do not think Chicago are legit contenders

I agree but in this case Butler has an improving
Developing skillset that makes him good on his own merit
Last year no Rose, no Gasol, an overtaxed Noah
And while his %s suggested he was struggling, he wasn't
His game has been a process of beautiful evolution
Hence he's been their leading scorer since returning from a sprained hand
And mentioning Hayward isn't some slight or stamping down of Butler
I bet many NBA executives would be split on who you go with
He also has a better handle than Butler....
I think because Chicago is ALL in to contend in these next couple years, they should do everything they need to do to keep Butler
Unless they can trade Butler for another player like Hayword (who is making MAX)
It isn't worth trying to penny pinch though Krause and The Chicago Bulls have done so for many years
I think it is very possible that they will try to move Noah, with his injuries and their depth at PF/C
They have draft picks this summer and it is a draft that is full of BIGS
Mirotic will develop while Gibson/Gasol will hold it down
Of course it depends on what they can get in a trade for Noah but I think a lot of teams will be interested, especially us, NYK's
Noah is near 30 as well, takes a lot of abuse in the paint, and has had his troubles of injuries
However, his ability to pass, post up 1v1, and hit the 17 footer (as ugly as it looks, it goes in), making him a very good fit in the Triangle
He is a very good 1v1 defender and help defender as well
RonRon wrote:It is close, while I think Hayward is by far the better shooter especially from the 3pter's

The Bulls aren't going to move anyone
They are 7-2 and they aren't even playing their
Absolute best basketball, sometimes I think we look at other teams
Rosters and tinker too much in our mind what we think they should do
If anything they should trade Rose and move on from//// "his
Home town hero you thought I was humble but I'm a prick cripple
Could give a rats arse what you fans
Think of me, my Fake Thug Reggie has my back eff the Haters"
And got get the job done to win it all without him
In the end they do nothing, Bulls will have a great yr
Butler will get resigned

I think Gordon is a better all around player than Butler is right now. But I think Butler is better than Parsons, who also received close to max money, so it's not out of the question for Butler to get a max deal.
