Knicks · Knicks Wolves game thread 8 PM MSG (page 13)

knicks are now 3-10 or playing .300 ball. their defense alone was going to put them in a 5-6 game hole, a prediction that i made long before the season started that now, sadly, looks conservative.

to reach 35 wins they will have to go 32-37, or play .460 ball.

Nets lost in triple OT. Now THAT was a terrific game. Similar ending to the Bucks win against us yesterday.

3-7 would be .300 ball. We're playing .231 ball. Not that it matters.

They won't go .460 or .500 which I said to Nix earlier today when they said we wouldn't necessarily lose 45 games. We'd have to go 34-35 now to end up at 38-44. So very, very unlikely.

Tank! Tank! Tank!

But we're special. We deserve to lose to Philly. If we can't have that loss, then nobody will! It's ours!

The math becomes funny really fast to the darkside. BUT remember these are the KNicks--we do not count how many games we are out of 1st--our accomplishment is based on making that 8th seed. Remember we went to the finals 1 year from the 8th seed--right around when Dolan seeded power . As long as we make the playoffs--MSG can add 3.8% to ticket prices!! And we are in the east the perpetual septic system of the NBA. We will get back Bargs and Calderon and while I have no idea what that means--it could add us a few wins here and there.

Right. Adding us a few wins gets us to my projection of 28 games. That would mean going 25-44 the rest of the way which would mean playing at a .360 win rate the rest of the way. That's a 55% increase in productivity over our current win rate which I think is about as much as you could expect.

To win 35 games means going 32-37 the rest of the way. And that still doesn't buy you a playoff spot.

We're currently 14th out 15 Eastern Conference teams. I don't think we will pass Brooklyn or Boston and probably not Orlando either. So the idea that this year is different and we'll go on a massive run and play out of our minds and get into the playoffs is pretty much hot air.

Besides, just getting back Jose and Bargs is not a magic elixir. Our coach is clearly having issues driving with his training wheels on. And we lack any quality depth to withstand any additional injuries. Plus, we rarely have consistent production from any players game to game other than points from Melo.

Jose will ignite something somehow sometime somewhere, but consistency from this squad is not worth banking on. All the triangulating frenzies they might produce won't amount to much. We're a punching bag on defense and they're not going to change that one bit.

This season is about roster stabilization and applying new system and culture.
Nobody was planning to win anything any time soon except of Nixlova...

3-10 is actually a .230 clip, .300 is far too generous

the Knicks won yet another fourth quarter, outscoring Minnesota 26-22 in the final period.

Moral victories are great!

I'd give a Melo and a Hardaway and the first pick now for Okafor. Some Cole slaw too? Done!
