Yep. Bastard. Whore. Thief. I stand by those words. His words speak for themselves today or a month ago. It doesn't change anything. Those are his words. This season. After he got paid. Anything else?

The timing of you joining is interesting. Are you tkf?

Splat wrote:Where are the posts telling us how these comments by Melo are really wonderful?

Seems the Melo Fan Club has fallen silent.

This comment is just sad. You are really looking for people to battle with this badly over an ESPN article? Really?

No, I'm looking for someone to show us how it is OK to say this garbage. I'm looking for one of those who reflexively defend Melo against all criticisms to explain how they can defend a guy who says this kind of stuff.

That's the bait I left by saying the above. I really would like to know.

Apparently not a single person has anything to contribute about how this is OK, how it is helpful or constructive for the Knicks to have their centerpiece talking like this.

Instead, people want to talk about the date of quotation as if they caught me in some blunder. I pulled this off of ESPN's wire today. He said it very recently.

He said if this season. That's what relevant, not what precise date he said it. It's indefensible and I'd like to see someone defend his words, not attack mine (I can defend myself just fine, that's not the point).

you're pathetic. I kind of enjoyed your comedic post...brought some humor to a rather gloom situation but you're finally showing your colors. Just another Dk7th, Guns clown. smh

I personally could care what this man does on his personal time, with his money (as long as its nothing illegal).

We see a young rich athlete who is actually planning for life after Basketball...putting his money in something other than cars, cristol and strippers....and we frown upon it?

Thanks for the kind words!

Carmelo is a top 10 player but he is also an out of touch with reality douchebag.

He was upset that his kid, when his class was asked what their dad's did for a living
said 'my dad is a basketball player' because he wants to be known as more than a basketball player.

Like someone just said on the radio - when his kid was asked what daddy does for a living he should have said 'my daddy is a ball hog'

I wish these guys would just do their job & shut their effing mouths.

I really can't wrap my head around

How when Melo opted out he had no contract

Basically he was temporarily broke by NBA standards

He could have suffered an off-season injury a la Rondo

Before agreeing on a deal which could have changed things dramatically

I mean the dude was broke, surely by his standards he was

Yet Phil Superman Jackson put on his cape

And put royalty back in his life

If I was Phil I'd feel sick to my stomach right now

fishmike @ 11/21/2014 9:53 AM
douchebag?

OK... here's the defense and I will leave it at that.

He's public figure, but he's not trained to be a polititian, so he's going to shoot crap out of his mouth that isnt polished and sounds douche like. Show me 20 multi millionaire pro athletes and you can find crap on 19 of them.

Melo is talking about what? Business? I didnt read the article because I dont care. Idiots care. Losers care. Yes thats right... LOSERS. If you read some article about a guy on your team that doesnt involve him beating his children, smacking women or killing people while driving drunk and it upsets you YOU NEED A LIFE.

If you need to come on a sports forum and somehow validate yourself by calling this guy out YOU ARE A LOSER.

You are not in his world, and you should not pretend to be.

Melo is very charitable and gives back. He's a good basketball player. Some would say great. Others would not. Phil JAckson says he's great and has paid him accordingly. For me, thats good enough for now. If it turns out to be a mistake as signing Amare was a mistake we can reflect on that and I will be happy to say this guy didnt work out here.

The fact that you people here are hung up on this stuff is GREAT. I LOVE IT. Nothing like seeing losers spin their wheels in the mud because they are crying about something stupid a rich basketball player said in an ESPN article.

You want Melo defense? Here it is... He's back at PF and is playing like a top player in the league and he's playing through pain. The team stinks right now. So it goes, but Melo is playing well. There is your defense.

You guys want to spin and tilt over what this guy thinks of himself or what he does off the court go for it. Follow the Kardashians while your at it.

This kind of stuff actually makes me enjoy his presense here even more. Its fun. Nothing like seeing a bunch of cry babies wank each other over ESPN articles on sports forum. Losers. Im sorry... is that name calling? Super duper losers. How about caps? LOSERS. Now its true.

Happy friday everyone!

What? This is a bizarre comment. I personally do not believe Carmelo is a top 10 player but at the end of the day player rankings are based on people's opinions and you simply can't tell someone on a discussion board that a certain opinion is off limits. Come on, man you're smarter than that. Just cause it annoying to some that others overrate Melo doesn't mean that they have to cowtow to those who dislike of the guy.

So he's Top 10 based on what?

Notice you didn't say...

I do feel he is a Top 10 player"

"Carmelo is a Top 10 Player"

Cartman718 @ 11/21/2014 11:35 AM
I am not sure but Lebron may have gotten flak for saying he wants to be a billionaire, etc. We all know the talents to South Beach embarassment.
Melo's comments are just as stupid. This doesn't make him any less of a basketball player. But it's certainly helping tilt the scale toward "i dont care if he gets traded" just like the scale to me is STILL fully tilted toward "no way do i want Lebron James on this team". Lebron is a deserter. Melo hasn't reached that point yet with the Knicks, but he did want out of Denver and based on the comments he made in October, it wouldn't be completely surprising if he requested a trade if we continue to tank.
Hector @ 11/21/2014 12:13 PM
I'll be honest, I probably wouldn't feel this way about him 15 years ago, I partly blame social media. I love Patrick Ewing & players back then, but if they had twitter & could broadcast their thoughts to all of us the way players do now, I'd probably think those players were as big a bunch of dicks as I feel Carmelo is appearing to be.

Social media is a big part of it but basically it is just a way of showing us how people really think as opposed to the past where we just didn't really know as much about whatever public figures we liked admired - whatever.

Carmelo is out of touch. He is a freaking basketball player 1st & basically only.

To cry about being known for that....can't relate to that.

What the heck are you talking about? Are you insinutating Im using subtle double speak to try and cleverly hide my MeloBoner? What would be the point? Listen, maybe I didnt express myself properly or maybe you misread. Let me repeat myself again so it's clear:

I DONT PERSONALLY RATE CARMELO ANTHONY AS A TOP 10 PLAYER IN THE NBA

or

MELO ISNT, IN MY OPINION, A TOP 10 PLAYER

or

MELO IS AT BEST A TOP 15 OR AT WORST A TOP 20 PLAYER IN THE NBA

Am I being more clear?

So stop with the nonsense. Just because someone doesnt froth as the mouth hating the guy and have a cache of pics of him surrounded by junk food and/or articles with douchey comments in a folder on my desktop ready to post at the drop of the a hat on a message board doesnt mean they are a MeloLover/apologist/fanboi. Please cut it out. Ive criticized the guy much more than Ive ever praised him. I simply get uncomfortable when someone on a message board states that certain opinions should be off limits and never expressed. If someone rates Carmelo as top 10 why the fuhuck should I care? Why do you care so much? Disagree, or ignore, or move on. Jeez.

Great player, top 10 player - wasn't the point.

Just substitute whatever number you think fits the 'top 10'.

Really there is no current standard of measurement

Although I guess you could consider All-NBA Teams as a possible means to do so

Not sure what means ESPN went to, to determine their rankings

But the past 3yrs he's finished 17th, 15th, 11th

The Top 5, Top 10, Best Pure Scorer wild fire talk

OK but I guess we'll never see eye to eye.

IMO very little anyone posts on a friggin' message board is "fact". Hence, people should be free to continue to post whatever they want and free to defend their positions (or try to) if they so desire. Just because it annoys you doesn't mean other shouldn't be allowed to state that they believe it. It's kind of bizarre it disturbs you so much. That being said going down the slippery slope of deciding which topics and opinons are off limits and not allowed to be expressed is not a good path to go down.
