Thought the thread was about can he contribute if his shot is off. I am not sure about his stat I know he was 6-11 in his last game but he has been up and down. Just know that because he only took 11 shots. But ideally the team needs him to be hitting his shot and passing.

when the knicks played cleveland lebron was really off so he concentrated on dishing - 12 assists.
Melo was off so he concentrated on more and more and more and more and more shooting so that he could get his shot going.

bad from 3 and not getting to the line enough. I think the 3ball will get around 39% if he comes back this season. His 2pt% is pretty high for him but the other things have dipped so far. I have seen a lot of open jumpers missed, especially 3s and I am not talking about the quick shots off a rebound. Really after his disastrous slow start he was on a serious role then he cam back and his TS plummeted. Regardless of how many ast he is getting I would like to see 11-14 ast opportunities a game. The guy needs to pass more and cut harder off the pass. Maybe its the nagging injuries but he needs to play with more suddenness.

Talking about what Melo can do to help when his shot isnt falling is a legit discussion. Probably exactly what "fleshing out his game" means. A discussion the emotional turtles on this board are incapable of.
I would love to see him improve there. Melo is very frustrating because you know he is capable of filling out the stat sheet better with rebs, assists and steals. I think blkexec nailed it best when he said he works too hard to get his own shot off that he just doesnt have enough left effort wise to be anything other than average on the other end of the floor. Thats a 100% legit knock on his game. It has especially killed him in the playoffs over his career.
Lets see how Phil and Fisher push those buttons.
At this point in his career i dont think só. I dont think its lack of effort i just dont think he has great overall ability. He is a top scorer and a good rebounder those are his strengths

Melo in not good in passing, court vision, handling the ball in open court, moving without the ball, stills, defending 3th, defending 4th, help-defense, and shot-blocking but he is very good in all the rest...
