Knicks · IF I WERE PHIL........ (page 1)

Knicks1969 @ 12/7/2014 12:14 PM
First thing I would do would be to do a thorough evaluation of the coaching staff. I wouldn't aim to fire anyone, but tell them what they are doing wrong and what they are to do to fix the issues. It is very vivid what this coaching staff is NOT doing; one can't tell me that the many starting lineups is not the source of our failure thus far. Guys still don't know when and where their minutes are going to come from; and a lot of the players are not playing loose, because they are too busy looking over their shoulders. Second, it is very evident that this ROSTER is not built for the TRIANGLE. We don't have one player that can play without the ball. All of them are ball dominant players and have been so since the peewee league. It is STUPID of FISHER to fathom that these dudes can suddenly change.

We've lost countless of games so far, mainly because of FISHER reliance on guys to run the right TRIANGLE plAys instead of calling a particular play from the sidelines. I don't know if it is because he simply is not a play caller, but if that is the case, he is not suited to be a HEAD coach. As a coach, there are times when you simply have to forego a system and operate outside the box; which I have yet to see from FISHER.

Second thing Phil must do is creatively find ways to clean this roster. After 21 games, he has enough of a sample to know that the roster needs a serious jolt. Trade Amare, Bargnani, JR, Shump, Priggioni, Dalembert, and Cole. Bring in as many quality players as possible and try to pry away some draft picks.

Nalod @ 12/7/2014 12:39 PM
Trade half the roster and
Bring in as many quality players as possible and try to pry away some draft picks.

Seriously, you started a thread today that "I'd be talking to my coaches!!!"
You really think phil is not? Cuz media not telling you so? You reacting to Berman and Isola today?
You think that if he don't like the team he should just start trading for "many quality players as possible and try to pry away some draft picks".

That is some out of the box shyt you bring here!! I mean "WOW"!!!!! Some Captain Obvious insight you got here!

Basically that abstract as "many quality players as possible and try to pry away some draft picks". means what???

Bring back more salary cuz "Ain't no stars gonna come here?" That factorial or you having a fan hissy fit?

You get your info from where? Hoopshype? So that makes you as informed as who? Real decision makers?

Quick- you have to write this down in a letter and send it to Phil- there's no way he's thought of any of that, this could be the answer he's been looking for.

The roster purge will happen soon enough, but most likely next summer.
Until then, relax and enjoy the tank. This is a process that calls for patience....
and it could take several years for us to be as competitive as we hope.

And by then Melo will have aged like a very expensive fine burgundy and will be Paul Piercing the opposition with savvy plays and clutch baskets while our young uns plunder and pillage the league.

My impatience stemmed from FISHER's inability to give minutes to the young players. I made it clear that I can stomach the losses if the coach is using the time to put in place the TRIANGLE, as well as allowing the young dudes (Larkin, THJ, Wear, Acy) get the major burn. I am not at all happy when he elects not to play the young dudes, while giving the likes of JR, Amare, Prigioni a lot of burn.

You can't generate a market for the old dudes, without playing them. The young guys will be with us for the long haul; JR, Amare, Prigioni, etcetera, will not.

If I were Phil I'd take these guys out to the California Desert and give them Peyote.

other than THJ and Early, what young guys do we have that here for the long haul, did you forget phil refuse to extend them..Thats why when you gus say let fisher play the young guys, I'm like, the ones that have no future on the knicks.

I wouldn't really say anything to Phil for fear of being TOTALLY embarrassed by him once he responded. It's amazing how fast people are convinced that they know more about this than Phil just because of the way the team has played. We didn't get to see how things would've developed if we had a chance to see the team start the year with Jose and Bargs as part of the rotation rather than having to play so many games with Larkin and relying on Jason, Acy and Wear. It may not have made a difference or maybe it would've made a difference to have developed the chemistry with the Starting Lineup that Phil and Fish envisioned. Instead they had to go thru the expected early adjustment period without the guys they had in mind to start and that only made things harder.

It was always going to be a bit of a struggle to start but I think they might have been more competitive to start the year if they had a healthy Jose and Bargs to start the season. This isn't to say they'd be world beaters, but the difference has been VERY, VERY small in many of their losses. It's not impossible to imagine that they could've won with just a small increase in efficiency and execution from the very start of the year. Instead they are still behind in developing their chemistry, which many fans seem not to understand. Jose hasn't even played or practiced that much with the team due to his being out with injury.

In the end this season will be about seeing who Phil will keep and who will go. The cap situation is clear that there will be major changes. There's no reason to panic when we already know that we have a pick and plenty of cap space ahead. Not to mention the ability to make an in season trade. Phil says "What we have to do is protect our future.'' Jackson said opportunities aren't "jumping out at us."

Fair enough.
What Phil is saying we have a bunch of junk on our hands so no one wants it.
The junk will expire by itself and will open space for players who are up to the system and ready to go to war in NY.
Money will not be an issue so it is up to Phil to get the right cast for the movie.

Wear at this point gives us more then Jay Smith. He is hungrier and younger. Why give minutes to a dude that does just on thing, which is the elbow shot? I will accept losing with the pups, not with soft veterans who can't defend and rebound like Amare and Smith
