Yes he's in the same situation as David Lee
He doesn't want to be traded though as he wants to retain Bird's Rights
Here's the recent drops on his situation
One I would not touch this year nor the summer

I don't think he is going back there. Have to think SVG will look to trade him for something.
We should def look to use the cap space to add more draft picks. Then look at Joe Johnson and Al Hortford in 2016. Joe will probably only command 10mil by this time. Hortford will probably command 12. Unless he has a monster salary yr. Add these 2 with Melo a top pick 2015 and a few more draft picks and we can be in good shape. Yea Joe will be older but he will also be cheaper yet still productive. Maybe allow us to add a 3rd FA.

May want to keep an eye on De'Andre Jordan

I am pretty sure a player's bird rights are kept in a trade

The qualifying offer limits the Pistons ability to trade Monroe this season. He has veto power over a trade. If he is traded, he'd lose his ability to exercise his Bird rights on an extension with a new team.
