Knicks · Rondo to Mavs is a done deal (page 2)

They are tanking and accumulating assets. They don't need to have a cornerstone player tapped as of yet. I'm sure they'd love it if Smart became that player, likely or not. But the point is they don't necessarily need one right now and they are _still_ in a great position, with basically all the Nets unprotected picks from now until seeming eternity. And the Nets are gonna suck. Basically Boston can do what Philly is doing and they don't even have to intentionally tank since they'll have the horrid Nets doing the dirty work for them.

Naaaahhhh

Last time Rondo won big he won with

K.G. Pierce, Allen

Now he's with

Dirk, Parsons, Ellis

Very comparable

Wow. Great pick up for the Mavs. Cuban chasing a championship and getting the guy Morey wanted again.

The only reason he didn't get traded to the knicks is because of our record, they didn't want to send him to a loser team that has no future.

What a steal for the Mavs.

It is extremely hard to find a PG that can orchestrate an offense, and when you do, you want to hold on to him...The members on this board love draft picks and unproven "yoots", but this was a bad trade for the Celtics.

I hope M.Smart pans out

They weren't keeping Rondo. He wanted out and check out of Boston a long time ago

So after seeing what Boston got for Rondo, does anyone still believe we would have gotten 2 first rounders and a chest full of treasures for Tyson?

What does one have to do with the other?

Because Rondo has more value than Tyson, but they ended up trading him for essentially the same package- 2 role players, a late first and a future second. We got Larkin, 2 2nd rounders and two role players, and shipped out Felton. Critics have been acting as though if Phil had held off the trade we would have been given the moon.

In fact, I'm going to judge this Rondo trade exactly like critics have been judging the Tyson trade: Arg! Boston traded Rondo all star for 2 scrubs!!!! What an absolute bust!! I'm going to pretend like the draft picks weren't even a part of it!!! Let's judge the trade now, quick before the players they draft have even played a single minute!!!

Did Morey want him? Now or years ago? By the advanced metrics, Rondo is pretty bad right now.

People criticizing the Tyson trade are using advanced metrics, which place Tyson miles and miles ahead of Rondo (and their impacts on their teams should make this obvious to people not using the metrics too).
Brandon Wright is light years better than anything we got also.

Rumors were he was trying to get him. He wanted him now.

I like Brandan wright but he is usually hurt.

Rondo is still getting over his ACL, is a free agent and a known azzhole.
They have been trying to trade him for a few years now and Ainge has not gotten good offers for him. He had a very reasonable contract because when he could go free the market was not great. This kid as the QB as a team and his personality is well known to be a difficult teammate.

He has a talent.

I don't know why some are angry withPhil for not stepping in to the trade without seeing what our role would have been.

As far as Rondo on the knicks, that would have been a joke. He'll be on his best behavior in his contract year but his price won't be that high. Like I said, the dude has a personality disorder.

Yeah, Wright is a system player who thrives in limited minutes. Watch is production drop in Boston. Rondo is a bit flighty and the Mavs are betting he will pick it up now that he's on a contending team. It's a gamble.
Nalod @ 12/19/2014 7:29 AM
Rondo is a good fit for Dallas. Good trade FOR THEM.
GoNyGoNyGo @ 12/19/2014 8:04 AM
I would love to see Wright come to NY. He is the type of player they need in the middle. He can defend the rim and is athletic. Not perfect but better than Dalembert.

A C combo of Wright and Cole would be good enough.

Is there anyway to get him? Shump for Wright? Smith? either one?

GoNyGoNyGo @ 12/19/2014 8:33 AM
How about Bargnani for Wright and Bass?
