OK Phil tried with a bunch of low end players and it didn't work as he expected. BIG WHUP! He also said that he wanted to protect the teams future, which is still in good cap shape and he's been working in some young prospects to develop as well. No matter what happened this year we still would be looking to make major changes and set the franchise on it's future course. The roster was going to change regardless of whether the team played well enough to get into the playoffs of fell apart like this. This wasn't the roster to go to war with. It was just a transitional roster. Fish can gain experience and make mistakes with very little pressure this year.

With good health to the key players it's not impossible this team could've been better and actually won more of the many close games they lost. Phil just looked at trying to have a good season where he could establish his new system and culture and have a little success. The point still stands that this was going to be a transition year as many of the contracts were due to expire. I really don't understand the value of posts like yours other than to just be a DICK and restate the obvious. You've been on the wrong side of stupid all season, so I'll take my chances with continuing to be correct.
I've made myself abundantly clear that some things can go well, but it will not necessarily be due to Phil being a genius. If the scouting team earns their money, then the club should become better after it is gutted like the pig it is.
If you think Phil is really on the ball then you haven't been paying attention. He had ONE VALUABLE ASSET. He converted that primarily into Jose Calderon, a STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID contract. The only redeeming factor is Thanasis. That I attribute to our scouting team more than evidence of anything Phil has accomplished thus far.
I go by what I've seen, not by what I fantasize about which is all you do.

Lupica is a smart dude and actually does know what is happening...What he realizes is that Phil and Fisher isn't trying to tank and that these losses are a real effort of trying to get wins..That is what is scary...
I have been a fan of Lupica for years all the way up until they fired Mike Woodson. He still invokes Woodson's name on his show, he props up Woodson for that 54 win season but won't give him any responsibility for the one after, laying it just on the players. He is constantly saying if Mike Woodson performed like Fisher is people would be crying for his firing (news flash Mike, he did, they did, he was) failing to mention Woodson had no offensive philosophy, was the ONLY coach in the league who demanded guys switch on the PnR constantly, and wasnt able to develop any of the minimal young talent we had (Shump should be so much better). I listen to him in podcast form and the minute he mentions Woodson's name, I'm out and stop listening.

Who said I didn't like Woodson? I liked Woodson in theory. He was a defensive coach who said he was going to hold all his players accountable and was going to instill pride in NY Knicks play. He wnded up covering up for JR a million times more than holding him accountable for his stupidity. His defensive scheme was so predictable teams actually saw it as a benefit when we played them. Offensively he was the same in Atlanta. He is a good defensive assistant that can connect woth his players but as a head coach he is lacking.
My complaint was Lupica double standard. He praises Woodson for that 54 win season but says nothibg of the players. Woodson wasnt hitting all those threes. Chandler joked about winning his defensive player of the year award because the guards kept letting people by. Lupica keeps saying well Woodson coached this team to 54 wins then turns around and says the players are responsible for the losing the next year. Woodson coached that 32 win or whatever team too. I'm not saying it is all Woody's fault but there IS enough blame to go around.
It is obvious Lupica has a vendetta against Phil. Which prevents him from hosting a fair "thinking man's" discussion on the current ieteration of the Knicks. He makes fun of the triangle just as much as Barkley. It is a joke.
