Knicks · These beat writers like Lupica have no clue (page 2)
As Briggs mentioned we have nothing but good options this summer with the draft and FA. Not to mention we have no idea if Phil might add more assets or clear more cap with a trade. You would think the media would also make it clear what the teams future prospects look like.

Every season is a blessing! Either we get a lottery pick or we discuss how much progress we made by making the playoffs.

WTF? You really are in a league of your own. Yes I thought the team would be better than this. I also didn't expect the health problems we had from day one. With good health to the key players it's not impossible this team could've been better and actually won more of the many close games they lost. Of course it's impossible to know that now and you get to talk ish on the internet. Good for you.
Not much went the way it was expected, but it's not like we were expecting a title from this team. Phil just looked at trying to have a good season where he could establish his new system and culture and have a little success. The point still stands that this was going to be a transition year as many of the contracts were due to expire. I really don't understand the value of posts like yours other than to just be a DICK and restate the obvious. Try contributing something of value for a change other than proving how much of a piss ant you are.

Uh huh, yeah, you're posting with exclamation marks all day long and you flip out when someone makes a completely benign comment to you? You're completely unhinged. So you're convinced Phil doesn't know what he's doing? You're not even going to give him a chance to actually get thru the Trade Deadline, the coming draft or Free Agent signing Period? Just basing everything off the 1st qtr of this meaningless season? How can anyone take you seriously with that kind of premature judgment? There are so many roster moves to be made it's impossible to make any kind of valid judgement of what Phil is capable of from this point in the process. You can go out on a limb bashing Phil at this early point but it really is a stupid position to take at this juncture. It's more reasonable to wait and see what Phil does.

You've been on the wrong side of stupid all season, so I'll take my chances with continuing to be correct.
I've made myself abundantly clear that some things can go well, but it will not necessarily be due to Phil being a genius. If the scouting team earns their money, then the club should become better after it is gutted like the pig it is.
If you think Phil is really on the ball then you haven't been paying attention. He had ONE VALUABLE ASSET. He converted that primarily into Jose Calderon, a STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID contract. The only redeeming factor is Thanasis. That I attribute to our scouting team more than evidence of anything Phil has accomplished thus far.
I go by what I've seen, not by what I fantasize about which is all you do.

There is absolutely NO WAY this club is 5-25 with Tyson Chandler. IMHO Phil believed with the addition of Calderon--we would be the 54 win team we were just 2 years ago. He believed dalembart would give a close replica of what Tyson could do that Bargnani would thrive here(and we wont know that 1) that Smith would do well--he spent 3mm+ on him--additional size new PG--check. Nope not even close but its ok. Other than the 4mm for 2015 that we paid overage from Felton to Calderon--we have a perfect set up to really change the club in 2015. This is what writers were calling for--and the club is in position to do this. Playing to win 8 games in a row will not help FA will not help drafting will not help us get into any playoffs the season is done. The writers need to embrace failure for the benefit of gain--its like they dont understand the sport they cover. Right now losing is winning and we have the 2nd best record in the league. Every loss is important and I dont care if its by 30 or 3. The beat writers need to give up the blame game and accept that we could get the best player weve had here in 20 years--were in position to get that from the draft AND we can get a really really good player in FA. Now its up to Phil to sell whatever he can at the deadline--I think we do have some vet assets--not much but some. When I see a tanking move a cut the ties move where a Dalembart is moved for 2nd rounders and Carmelo is finally forced into prolonged down time--Ill know we ve set the 2nd leg in motion here and the writers should pay attention to this--not who scored 30 on us.Lupica is a smart dude and actually does know what is happening...What he realizes is that Phil and Fisher isn't trying to tank and that these losses are a real effort of trying to get wins..That is what is scary...
I have been a fan of Lupica for years all the way up until they fired Mike Woodson. He still invokes Woodson's name on his show, he props up Woodson for that 54 win season but won't give him any responsibility for the one after, laying it just on the players. He is constantly saying if Mike Woodson performed like Fisher is people would be crying for his firing (news flash Mike, he did, they did, he was) failing to mention Woodson had no offensive philosophy, was the ONLY coach in the league who demanded guys switch on the PnR constantly, and wasnt able to develop any of the minimal young talent we had (Shump should be so much better). I listen to him in podcast form and the minute he mentions Woodson's name, I'm out and stop listening.
Well you might not like Woodson but he was the most successful coach here in the last decade...Includes LB,Wilkins,
and Fisher..
Who said I didn't like Woodson? I liked Woodson in theory. He was a defensive coach who said he was going to hold all his players accountable and was going to instill pride in NY Knicks play. He wnded up covering up for JR a million times more than holding him accountable for his stupidity. His defensive scheme was so predictable teams actually saw it as a benefit when we played them. Offensively he was the same in Atlanta. He is a good defensive assistant that can connect woth his players but as a head coach he is lacking.
My complaint was Lupica double standard. He praises Woodson for that 54 win season but says nothibg of the players. Woodson wasnt hitting all those threes. Chandler joked about winning his defensive player of the year award because the guards kept letting people by. Lupica keeps saying well Woodson coached this team to 54 wins then turns around and says the players are responsible for the losing the next year. Woodson coached that 32 win or whatever team too. I'm not saying it is all Woody's fault but there IS enough blame to go around.
It is obvious Lupica has a vendetta against Phil. Which prevents him from hosting a fair "thinking man's" discussion on the current ieteration of the Knicks. He makes fun of the triangle just as much as Barkley. It is a joke.
