Is anybody surprised?
Guy played a lot of minutes for someone who was hobbling around a year ago.
The idea of re-signing this guy is wacked out. He's ready to physically implode at any moment.
It was only a matter of time, after the all star break melo will shut it down for surgery

I don't know why it hadn't occurred to me before that Melo was likely holding on for the All Star game. My brain must be on strike.

It is as plausible a guess as any as to what he is up to.
Of course. His brand takes a huge hit if he's not elected an allstar

What brand?
Anybody buying crap with his name on it?
Digital sneakers?
This was his last payday in the NBA after all.
The only good news is it is his right knee that is causing him problems.
He may never see another Allstar game
With STAT breaking down it should make it even more urgent that Melo eventually shut it down. STAT is a cautionary tale about pushing a key player too hard for no reason.

Weren't you advocating resigning Stat for next season?

And you might have to add Melo to that list

Yeah hopefully after the all star break we can save some mileage on Melo.

To be fair, so do the Knicks- hosting an allstar game with the worst record in the league and no players playing the allstar game. (Didn't that happen last time we hosted the allstar game?).
As well as the allstar game, I guess he's probably carrying on for the London game too. I don't think the nba would be too pleased if he didn't play.
