this whole argument is premised on carmelo anthony's outrageous contract and the insistence of running the triangle.
what this means is that you HAVE TO prioritize acquiring superior defensive players at the point of attack and at the rim.
you are not going to maximize your investment by paying for dragic in this circumstance, no matter how enamored you are of his game: he is an inferior defender.

Wonder why nobody can ask fisher what 35% from 3 equals to in effective field goal percentage.

There are no players on this Knicks team who can defend. On perimeter or inside.
Ask them to get out to guard the 3-point line and opponents will hit 60 points in the paint.
Defense is hard work and everything else after...
There is no point to work hard for anybody on this team for various reasons.
So all this talk is irrelevant.
This year team is as good as gone. And everyone on the court, on the bench, and in the office know about is.
The only delusional once are some Knicks fans who cannot let it go.

jackson has already screwed the pooch with melo-- that doesn't mean he should not have a chance to redeem himself by trying to enforce his agenda. this means system first, and find players who will fit that system.

well smith is a softie. imagine being brought in as a backup to bargnani. i recall he had one game where he sort of defended with some gusto and cojones. that said, i really only see a couple of guys worth hanging on to for the future, namely travis wear, big country cole, larkin. have to see the greek kid play at the nba level as well as early. that's a nice young group of guys to work with and it's worth allowing them to develop. who knows, one of them might very well blow up.
just not a fan of hardaway. or smith and smith. or calderon. on the fence about shumpert. acy is too scrubby.

So swapping Melo out with most player ranked in the Top 20 above him that is
We'd probably be noticeably better than 5-29
Maybe closer to Brooklyn or Bucks record
Nothing ground breaking but competitively better
